Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. This apartment is very cosy and perfectly clean and located in a quite side street while it is still in the heart of Valencia‘s city Center. The host of this property is very nice and helpful and the communication with him was great. We enjoyed our stay very much.

BelgiumExcellent communication with the owner - from the reservation till the departure. The apartment includes all what you need for cooking for example + Netflix. Very very clean. The owner even provided me with paper for printing my boarding pass ( I do not trust my smartphone ;-)) I greatly appreciated the owner's flexibility: my flight was delayed, I was nervous about the check-in time but the lady told me not to worry and, indeed, I could finally check-in 2 hours later than scheduled. I do Really Recommend !! Once again, many thanks to the owner. Good to know also : a bakery and 2 supermarkets within 100 m from the apart. Public transportation (bus, subway line 10 ) at +/- 500m.

United StatesIt was very chilly in Valencia and the place had a space heater in my bedroom and the living room, but the rest of the apartment was very cold, in the 50's, so I pretty much stayed in the bedroom with the door closed to keep in the heat.
Lots of light, lots of space. I was able to check in early, an effort was made to get it cleaned so I could get in after my trans-Atlantic flight. Much appreciated!

LithuaniaI had a terrible experience with this booking in Valencia. Firstly, we had difficulty contacting the owner and ended up wasting time trying to reach her on Friday evening. When we finally were able to speak with her, we clearly communicated our arrival time, but she did not understand English and complained about her phone account limit, even though we had provided our Spanish phone number. All communication with the owner was in Spanish, which made it difficult for us to understand. Despite informing the owner of our estimated time of arrival, we still had to wait outside for 30 minutes because no one was there to let us in. As a result of these issues, we missed the concert we had paid for.
