Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

PortugalI thought we had reserved a 1st floor room, but our room was on the second floor. The building has no elevator, and my wife has bad knees. However, our innkeeper gladly carried our bags up when we arrived and down when we left, and also drove us down to the parking garage in the center of town.
Location was wonderful. Host was super.

United KingdomWe arrived on motorbikes, the town has very narrow and steep streets, no issue for us but cars would potentially have a problem accessing the property
Stunning location, very helpful host, well cared for, clean and an absolutely spectacular roof terrace, you have to watch the sunset from here.

New ZealandWould be handy to receive instructions prior for getting there from the car park - this was tricky to figure out as it is about 1.5km away, and there is no self-driving access to the accomodation. You can take a public minibus. Once you are there, it is great to be the the heart of the old town.
Great location, scenery, and eating options. Friendly staff.

United KingdomNothing! Loved our stay!
Juan was so helpful. He met us where we were trying to park our car near the hotel. He recommended places to visit too. We especially loved the roof terrace with beautiful views. It’s a fantastic location at the top of beautiful Arcos de la Frontera. There was an honesty bar and you could make a coffee for yourself. Beautiful building with small rooms and small bathroom.

United StatesThe property was great. They do not take card, cash only, and you pay when you leave-not arrive. We left early in the morning so had to make arrangements. But, Juan was great!
The location next to the church was awesome, sunset view from the terrace, easy to find, host, good value.

CanadaThe room is small but everything you need is there: closet, renovated sparkling bathroom, window to the outside so there is natural light. I stayed in a single; likely doubles will be larger but keep in mind that the roof terrace (partially covered) and a sitting area near check in are places to relax in the absence of lounge area in the room. Also keep in mind that—especially if you are the only guest in the Casa (as I was in my off season stay)—you have to open up the hot water tap for a while in order for hot water to reach the shower. Be patient: you can have a nice hot shower but you have to wait a bit.
Everything about Casa Mirador San Pedro is perfect: location, cleanliness, wifi, price, roof top terrace with panoramic views, excellent heat pump that warms up the room in moments. And best of all, the hospitality of Juan, who runs the place (and who drove me down the hill from the old city to the new to catch my bus on departure. Arcos de La frontera, the old city, is a medieval gem in Andalusia that should not be missed. Stay here when you visit!

It was traditional, the roof terrace was very nice , the location in the old town was very handy

ColombiaI think the owner can do a better job at communicating. He wasn’t there when I arrived and failed to mention that he’d left a key in a lockbox. When I did get a hold of him he explained how to enter the property so I left my bags in the room and went out to explore. Eventually the owner returns but since I was out already I was not going to run back to check in. I told him this. When I did return after dinner around 8pm I reviewed my booking and realized the owner had given me the wrong room. I texted him with photos of my booking and he didn’t respond. I called him to explain and his response was that I was wrong. Then, he asks why I didn’t point this out to him earlier and since I’d already checked in to the room it was too late. I explained my bags we’re in the room but the room hasn’t been used. My thought in that moment is why is this guy deflecting blame and why can’t he simply take responsibility for his error? The truth was because it was an inconvenience for him to interrupt his dinner and come back over. Eventually 40 minutes later he shows up and speaks to me the same way, trying to convince me this is all my fault. I did get the room I’d booked but also found the floor was a filthy dirty mess and proceeded to sweep it myself. Everything else seemed to be clean. He did allow me to store some personal items in the fridge in the lobby but upon returning, I’d found that he had moved all of them. He never mentioned this. His excuse was so that other guests wouldn’t take them but I was his only guest that night. I believe he did this so I’d have to wait for him to arrive in the morning that way he could be assured I wouldn’t leave without paying. Bottom line: I didn’t like how Juan operated and how he spoke to me and made me feel. He needs to take responsibility for himself and his action. Aside from all this, be aware it costs €15 euro for one night in the parking garage and it’s 1.
The deck on the roof was neat.
