Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaLoved staying here, the hosts were extremely friendly and helpful, they were keen to help me practice my Spanish and gave good recommendations for town and local restaurants, my room had a private sitting room also, so quite spacious, also there was a communal area which was nice also. Breakfast was very nice. If you're interested in staying away from the middle of town, with a country feel this is a great option

NetherlandsNothing. Everything was perfect!
Everything was great, starting with the location on the outskirts of Hondarribia but very close to the Camino del Norte path; then the beautiful old house, lovingly maintained and cared for by its wonderful owners, the room with a comfortable bed and a great bathroom, and last but not least the very tasy breakfast!

The location, decor, room size, owners’ friendliness. This was a wonderful discovery while traveling around Basque Country. Close to the French border which allows to take house as a center to make day trips to Biarritz, St Jean de Luz, etc. Pachi and Fatima are the best hosts and they share with you a lot of their Basque hospitality. Large and comfortable rooms.

United StatesNo complaints - we enjoyed our stay very much. I had read in a review that the kitchen is available for preparing meals. Just to clarify, guests are welcome to store some food in the refrigerator, make hot drinks, and use the microwave to heat up prepared foods. The hosts ask that guests not cook in the kitchen.
Amazing, interesting hosts who go out of their way to make you feel welcome. Old World charming house, planned and constructed solely by the owner in 1988, with a traditional Basque-style feel, and the owners are happy to share information about Basque culture. Good location within reasonable walking distance to Hondarribia (if you like to walk) and out the door, there are many great walks into the hills. An easy 45-minute drive into Donastia-San Sebastian, and close to French Basque Country. Don't miss the Hendaye bay and beach promenade. Casa Rural Iketze is very close to the Camino Santiago (North) so many of the guests are there overnight to continue their hike on the Camino. The rooms are clean and spacious, and ours had a private terrace attached.

SpainExceptional stay all around. Fatima and Patxi are wonderful and kind hosts. Their sons and furry family members are welcoming and friendly. The traditional basque style house is very charming and inviting. Stunning country side with complete tranquility and amazing views. Cozy and clean room with comfortable bed and a nice size bathroom. The terrace is spectacular to relax and enjoy the town church in the distance. Excellent breakfast. Beautiful dining sunroom with country views and fireplace. Fresh eggs from the estate’s own chickens, cold meats and cheese, rustic breads, buttery pastries and seasonal fruit. Coffee, tee, milk, fresh squeezed orange juice. Fully stocked kitchen with fridge, microwave, stove, dishwasher, coffee machine and tea are available for use by guests during the stay. About a 25 minute pleasant walk through the countryside ( with donkeys and sheep ) to beautiful Hondarribia and the French border. Will stay again without any doubt. Highly recommended for a relaxing, peaceful time.

BelgiumIt was our first stop on the Camino del Norte. What a charming place! We got a warm welcome in this lovely Casa Rural. We got a nice room with a great terrace. In the morning we were served a delicious breakfast and we got an amusing, interesting talk with the owners. Before we arrived they even picked up a package in the postal office of Hondarribia for us. Very friendly owners! Nice place surrounded by beautiful nature. Only 15 min by foot from Hondarribia.
