How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Staff were very personable and helpful. Beds were so comfortable. Try the restaurant directly across the street for delicious tapas. We loved our stay.

We didn’t take advantage of the on site breakfast as we thought it was a bit pricey at 19 euros. There didn’t appear to be an option to get something smaller.
The location, staff, size of room, amenities were all great.

We were so very happy with EVERYTHING about this place. We had the breakfast one morning and thought it was one of our best meals there. The STAFF were incredible! We had a scary experience in which my husband had to be rushed to the ER one morning with a horrible medical issue - Muhamed at the front desk helped us with getting a cab to take him to the hospital and he continued to check on my husband throughout the whole of our stay. Really everyone was so accomodating, kind and helpful - giving us help with directions to get around and just being plain lovely - huge thank you to also Claudia and Sandra for making us feel at home. We were so happy at this lovely and perfect hotel.

Wi-fi was very poor, could have had a slightly warmer pool!

For some reason the keys to our room kept resetting and we needed them re-synced numerous times. The air conditioning in our room was not working well and would not cool the room no matter how low the setting. Also, the shower would hit you with a blast of extremely hot water about every 45-60 seconds.
The staff was very helpful and attentive. The location was fantastic and was a close walk to attractions and the metro.

Bed was slightly too soft for my liking.
Lovely clean hotel in a really good location for exploring the Gothic Quarter and Born. Staff are very friendly and always helpful. We loved the pool and seating on the roof top. Perfect to chill out after exploring the city. The surprise bottle of champagne in our room for my husbands birthday was also a really lovely touch.

Linda and I stayed at Catalonia Born 10 years ago when we hiked the Pyrenees It was great then and this time we just completed a cruise on Windstar from Lisbon The Born was the perfect transition from the comforts of the cruise ship back to land Thank you Catalonia Born You are the best

The WIFI in my room on the 6th floor was very poor, but it was ok in the reception downstairs. There was no desk or work table in the room which was a little bit inconvenient as I was on a business trip.
Great breakfast selection, rooms were spotlessly clean, staff was incredibly helpful. Perfect location near the metro station and within walking distance to all sights around.

In the morning there was a smell in the bathroom, as no extraction is installed and no window to let air in the bathroom. This needs to be checked.
The room was large enough and cosy for 2 people. The breakfast was amazing and well prepared. Very friendly & helpful staff. During the stay my friend had her birthday and when we came home in the evening a bottle of cava was placed on the table. Very kind. The location of the hotel is in 5 mnutes walking distance to the metro station Arc de Triomphe and the barrico is nice to explore. No car needed, everything is in walking distance. Amazing place to stay. In summer you can use the roof terrace and small swimming pool. Or you can go into the gym facility. All-in-all a great place to stay and discover Barcelona.
