How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

- Key for the front door did not work properly on several occasions. Needs to be replaced or repaired. - No one replied to my messages on here, unclear check in instructions. We had to just guess what to do.

All communications were unsatisfactory. We booked through Booking and we provided the requested information to Booking. When I phoned the number provided I got an answering machine and no-one phoned me back. Worse still having refused to provide the entry codes putting us to great inconvenience they also refused to reimburse us. Shocking.
We were refused access. We paid, provided copies of our passports and provided our NIE numbers but the owners wouldn't provide us with the access codes. So there is nothing I like about this apartment. I hope others do better.

Very noisy. Had to have the windows open because there was no air conditioning in the bedroom, but the people in the square were yelling at all hours of the night and morning

The aircon was a large unit in the living area which was very loud and was more like a fan. It was very hot in the bedroom so tried sleeping with the window open but it was very noisy outside till about 3am.
It’s location was very good. Communication from the owners was good.

The ‘hoops’ one had to go through to complete the digital check-in and get the access code would deter me from staying again. So too would be the one air conditioning machine located in the lounge which did not work but was very noisy!
Location was a redeeming feature and proximity to public parking.

The air conditioning wasn’t working for the entirety of our 2 day stay. Despite raising it with the hosts we were to they couldn’t get the part to fix it which wasn’t true. Duct tape had come loose at the back of the unit which doesn’t require heavy engineering. Apartment stiflingly warm as a result and hosts hopeless

internet was very poor,very poor-had to use my own 4G an awful smell coming through the apartment-typical gutter smell-clearly an issue-bathroom door had to be shut at all time-very pungent

It was hard to park nearby. You should use an app Telpark and it's better to reserve parking before coming there. The door to the bathroom was broken. The check-in process wasn't smooth. The front wooden door wasn't open and we were waiting for instructions about that.
It's a good value.

there is ac , but not in the bedroom we had bad smells from the bathroom which made it less comfortable for us. guess it’s not the norma and we had bad luck
location is great , great condition easy communication by WhatsApp . you will need it to enter the apartment it’s a big apartment, can cook meals

there was only one towel in the bathroom and we were family of 4 so it was very uncomfortable 😣 the AC pie was not connected very well

There was a foul smell in the bathroom (apartment Europa) and we had to keep the door closed and the fan on during the entire stay. The kitchen was poorly equipped (compared to other similar apartments where I have stayed in the past). The corkscrew was broken, the toaster didn´t work, there was not a single supply available in the kitchen - such as salt or pepper.
Very good location, on one of the main squares, in the heart of the city. Good size apartment with nice, comfortable bedroom. Very good quality windows - no outside noise in spite of the fact that the windows were facing busy streets with bars and weekend crowds. Very good communication with the host prior to arriving.

No air conditioning so it was really hot and too noisy to have to door open.
Location is really good and great to have a separate lounge/kitchen area.
