How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

The check in process was very convoluted, the room is above a nightclub so was a bit noisy and I’m not sure if it was all people travelling staying but the doorbell was being rung very frequently
Pretty central location in Santiago de compostella, fine for 1 night but very basic.

No Tea or coffee making equipment, no guide about drinking water quality and if safe to drink the tap water, because flights arriving very late, and no local cafe open!!

Those, who need more space- please note that the rooms are pretty small. And remember to upload the check in app in advance!
The location is very good- 10 mins to the old city and train station. Clean rooms and bathrooms, no issues with hot water. Staff (via whatsapp) was very responsive and immediately resolved some issues i had when checking in🙂

For the price the room was the size of a walk-in...like the cities of HongKong or Japan. Well not because of the hotel.. but 2st night a neighbor woke me with his cigarette smoke. 2nd night the week-end disco kept me awake a good part of the night. And the precedent customer left some bed bugs..and I'm really not happy because now I have carry them with me. I told them, but didn't receive an answer
Well situated, the room was clean, just missing a mirror, and the bed comfie. The person was nice enough to provide the entry code before I came, because you need a wifi connection otherwise.

The place is that kind of place that there are lots of rooms that you enter, without talk to anyone. So it's a place just to sleep, don't wait for anything else. The settings are not bad but not good as well

The walls were very thin. We couldn't sleep properly because the room next to us were loud during the whole night. The common bathrooms were fine, but got really dirty after a while
It was close to the center and the rooms had a modern style which we liked. Our room was also clean. It was okay for one-night stay

The online check in was more complicated than necessary. I had to phone for help because the page prompts you to add details of more guests without the option of saying that you are travelling alone.
The room was clean and comfortable and in a great location.

Somelike complicated to get the codes for entry. You have to Register with ID Pictures, than to Download a Special App etc. Everything well explained but could be easier. Sleeping was impossible due to noise from the street the whole night

The check in process. The messages were translated from Spanish and some of the meaning was lost. I couldn't find the app on the app store, only on the Google play link. It took another traveller trying to get in to show me.
Clean. Shared bathrooms were really clean. In centre of town, very handy for his station. I checked in after midnight.

All night until about 3am all you could hear was clicking if key safe boxes. Unfortunately for me The bed was very uncomfortable.
The location was a short walk to the cathedral and seemed secure for late night access. Upon arrival and calling the landlord he talked me through access easily.

Hard to understand how to access the room beforehand (instructions only recieved at start time of stay). Long annoying check in, only available day before (not great if you are already traveling).
Comfy small room in a great location. Nice bathrooms. Good value for your money.
