Nice place to stay with groups during the tourist season, off season basic necessities are missing

Two main complaints: we arrived outside of the tourist season, during a time when they close down the hotel almost entirely, meaning they keep the rooms open for guests, but the cafe and the the restaurant are closed. While I understand this, it should have been advertised as such. Had we known, we would have brought some food and water with us. The hotel is located in a small village and there were no shops open, no restaurants, almost no place around to eat or drink anything. We managed to find the village tavern and grabbed a bite to eat, but we would have liked to be prepared. If you do not speak Spanish, I expect it is tricky to communicate with the locals (including the person who gave us the keys). It is not the case for us, but something to be aware of. The other issue was that there was no hot water, so the only two options were to not shower, or to shower with cold water. Since the hotel was almost closed in late September, once we got the key, the guy left and there was nobody around to sort this out.

The apartment (2 bedrooms, living room with kitchen, bathroom, balcony) was large and lovely with respect to the decorating style. The man who received us and provided the keys to the apartment and the garage was very nice. The village itself is pretty and I imagine a lot more animated during the tourist season.
