Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Bosnia and HerzegovinaI was disappointed how small the pool actually is. We were looking forward to a whole day next to the pool, but when we saw its size, we went to the beach.
Hotel is superb, amazing service.

United Statesthe selctrion of food in their Terrase restaurant wasn't great.
The hotel is bautiful but close to a road but the windows are insolted so we did not hear the road as we were afraid we would. Satff were very friendly, nice room, house simple but bautiful and with charachter. close to Pals the old village that is really bautifully renovated. Breakfast was nice.

The room was very comfortable and clean. The overall property was well taken care of and beautifully designed. Great location, in between Pals and Begur. Close to many beaches. Breakfast was good. We had a multiple course chefs menu in the restaurant in the evening as well, which was good value for money. Pool was on the smaller side, but good

United KingdomWe had a lovely quiet stay, which is what we wanted, but we felt the hotel lacked any personality. No one really engaged with us and we were never offered a drink by the pool or encouraged to use the bar. They left us entirely to our own devices which we found a little unfriendly.
Es Portal is a beautiful boutique hotel on the outskirts of a stunning old town called Pals. Whilst the property is secure and enclosed by a security gate, it is right on the edge of a fairly busy road. You can walk along the road for about 20 minutes to get to Pals, but definitely not with children. The rooms are lovely (only 9 in the hotel) but the lighting is fairly poor and unfortunately the air conditioning wasn’t working our first night and with temperatures in the high 30’s it was very uncomfortable! However, the hotel did get it fixed the following day and also upgraded us to a larger more airy room to try and help lessen the heat. There is apparently a very good restaurant at the hotel (a long taster type menu) which we didn’t try as we had a reservation elsewhere, but the hotel restaurant is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays. The pool area is very nice with plenty of sun loungers and chairs and surrounded by a stunning jasmine hedge which smells amazing! The old town of Pals is beautiful and well worth a visit and there are also numerous restaurants and bars to choose from where you can sit and enjoy the architecture.

SpainOur stay of four nights was too short We will recommend the hotel to all our friends.
The setting and location for touring was excellent. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly. The room was clean, comfortable and full of character. The adjacent lounge was large and the coffee machine was a great success. The food was outstanding.

United KingdomWe loved everything. The only slight down side is it’s set about a mile out of town. Quite a walk when the sun is really hot and we found taxis in this part of Spain to be very expensive. about double what they are down the coast in Lloret.
beautiful and charming little property. the staff are second to none. They went well out of their way to make sure we had a lovely stay.

We stayed for two nights in this wonderful hotel. The service was great and everything was maintained to the highest possible standard. On the first evening we ate in the main restaurant, enjoying a fabulous gastronomic menu - not cheap, but every dish a culinary delight. The second evening we ate in the outdoor restaurant S'estiu; this was rather less special, but perfectly decent fare. All in all, a great destination to be highly recommended.

Italyeven if the whole structure looks nice in a rural concept , the floor of the suite we booked was in parquet in poor wood, means that some details were not in line with the concept of the building. also the air conditioning was not working properly and we suffered how during the night.
we liked the location and the style. nice service and despite the fact that the structure is close to the main road it was silence.

United StatesThe location - it was not really walkable to anywhere. The town of Pals is cute, but there’s not much there.
The building itself has been beautifully restored. The hotel directly borders a busy road, but the high quality windows were amazing at blocking the road noise. The breakfast was excellent - not something I often say about European destinations.
