Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaStairs and long walk to the room. Also the bed was not very comfortable.
Best thing was the closeness to the bus station/intermodel as I was arriving and departing Bilbao by bus.

GermanyThe receptionist could not speak any English, perhaps as Bilbao is not the most touristic spot of Spain, but nevertheless she was friendly and we managed to communicate.
The location is convenient, not far from the city centre and very close to the bus station from which I had to depart very early in the morning. The room was basic, but convenient. I had no problem to check in very late in the evening.

SwitzerlandUnfortunately the minibar mentioned did not exist. The "junior suite" aspect was 2 blue chairs too dirty to use. The wifi was very weak and kept turning off. I would definitely not return.
I chose the hotel for its location. The room was ready when I arrived at 12 noon.

United StatesIt was a very hot day. We were told no air conditioning in the night. There was too much street noise to sleep with windows open. I chose this hotel because air conditioning was listed. It did not say only for certain hours.we were mislead, and uncomfortable, and could not sleep well.
Size of room, beds were good. Nice shower.

GreeceThe only thing that could be a problem is that the stuff did not speak english, however they were really friendly and helpful with everything we asked
The location is pretty nice, since it is next to the bus station and metro station. Room was small, with a relatively big bathroom. Everything was clean, since it was really cheap in comparison to other hotels, so definitely it was value for money.

United Statesthe property was very old. it was record heat outside, but the staff were the o my ones who could control the air conditioner from the lobby. the room was stifling hot and when we asked to have the AC turned on, the lady was abrupt/rude and told me it could only be on until 8pm. Later when it went off early and we asked it to be turned on she said it was on a thermostat and it will when the temp is too hot! We ended up leaving the property for another a day later and forfeiting the money.

United KingdomJudging by the photos and description, I had expected a fairly old fashioned hotel and I was right. However, the description of the hotel on booking.com is NOT accurate. The problem, I suspect, is that the staff (especially the lady who seems to be the manager/owner) do not speak English, so may have unwittingly provided incorrect information. I think that guests who don't speak Spanish (or Basque) might find it hard to communicate with the staff here. My room was advertised as having a "minibar", which I took to be a fridge in the room. There was none. It also promised a "terrace", and there was none. "Air conditioning" was advertised, and present, but could not be controlled in the room. To have aircon, I had to phone reception, and they would turn it on for an hour. Aircon could not be used between 2200 and 0900 which was unfortunate during the last night of my stay when temperatures had reached 30ºC the previous day. Also, contrary to the hotel's description on booking.com and other sites, there is no bar "serving breakfast and snacks". It looks like the hotel once had a full restaurant, but it is all closed up these days; a relic of a former age.
The location was good — very near the main bus station in Bilbao (Intermodal). The room was spacious and reasonably clean, though the inside of one of the cupboards was quite dirty. The staff were reasonably friendly. Wifi was good.

United KingdomThey refused to turn air conditioning on although it did work for about half and hour. The unit was controlled by the receptionist. The excuse was it was broken but then refused to move me to different room. The hotel was clearly almost empty but the receptionist was not prepared to help. The location by the main bus station meant that opening the window let in noise all night. So it was entirely sleepless.
