Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United Statesthe staff didn’t look under their Booking.com account to see that I had already paid a percentage of the bill to reserve the spot and they were only supposed to charge me for remaining balance but instead they charge d me the full amount. they looked under their own personal system and of course it didn’t show what I already paid. You must insist that they log in into their Booking.com/hostelworld account to see full details.

CanadaIt's so hard right now due to Covid. Having to stay in a full room with sneezing and coughing guests not great. Mask wearing not great Really should be following guidelines. Not thinking about safety. I was in a 6 bed dorm..... really should have only been 3 beds used.... especially these days.
Staff was great. Location close to everything.

NetherlandsThe bathroom in the room is dirty with a lot of moll on the walls. Also the drain was clogged so when you take a shower the room will overflow with water.
It's a OK hostel to stay in. The hostes are nice. Liked that there were electric plugs on the bed and your own night light. Also that there is an hot shower and toilet in the room. The location in Soho was nice.

PortugalIt was full throughout my stay and therefore was a bit noisy. The beds are just ok. Cleanliness needs improvement as well.
I was assigned an upper bunk bed and the design of the bunk bed was such that It was difficult to climb. As for the hostel, it's massive and huge. It was full throughout my stay and therefore can be noisy. However, the location is ideal.

United KingdomProbably my 8th time staying at this place but I'm not sure i will return. The room i was given was not the one that I reserved. When the guy on reception was challenged about this I was told that the hostel was full and that I couldn't have the one I had paid for (a look around and a quick check of booking.com showed that clearly wasn't the case), but they continued to try and lie. After 30 minutes of me trying to get them to correct the situation and me trying to find another place to stay, another member of staff arrived and explained that the room was actually going to be renovated the following day so I couldn't be offered it. After some debate it was decided that I could stay in the room that I had paid for. When I arrived in the room there were also two other guests already staying there, so I'm unsure why they were preventing me from doing so. Basically there was a lot of unnecessary drama (at 2330) for them selling something that they "apparently" didn't, but DID have. In the morning workmen let themselves into the (female) room at 10am - check out is at 11am, so I'm not sure why this happened. Long story short, why advertise something as available, let people pay for it and THEN say that it's not?? Had I known i would have very happily reserved a different hostel. The overall service wasn't great at all. Another guest was also dealing with an issue when i arrived and the attitude of the receptionist was the same with her, kind of like "I can't help you. Not my problem". The kitchen wasn't clean. The fridge was old and dirty. The bed only had a thin sheet as a cover and so it was extremely cold and impossible to sleep. I would imagine that some of the issues with this place are down to it going through a continuous renovation (I was there years ago and it was happening then but in a different part of the building).
Distance from the Metro station. Cleaning staff are very friendly and helpful.

SpainI am not sure what has exactly happened to Malaga in the recent times. Seems like prices have gone up like crazy. As a Spaniard myself, I was shocked with the prices for accommodation when I peeked at Booking. Paying 20€ for a hostel bed seemed to be like a bad joke. Specially when less than seven years ago same thing cost me 8. But OK, prices went up for some reason. But if I pay this, at least I expect a certain comfort. Well, this wasn't the case. The best was quite shabby and uncomfortable, always wanking as I made any move. The room was loaded with too many beds and people were therefore annoying each other as there wasn't enough room (or, at least, they could install some curtains to at least preserve privacy, but they have nothing of this). The bathroom wasn't that clean. There was some oxide at the shower plate. The shower itself was also quite shabby itself. Not what I would have wished. But yeah, it seems it doesn't matter in Malaga anymore what quality you offer, at least within this price range. Tourists are rising prices too much. Meanwhile, in cities that are much nicer to visit (imo) like Budapest, for less than this price you get much better hostels with all facilities in perfect conditions, private cabins or at least curtains, and a more sane distribution of beds. I hope the Malaga bubble will soon burst, because I think next time I will just take some night bus or shared car ride, since prices have gone way too over the roof in this city
Location and staff are the best assets of this hostel. It is quite convenient when you come for example from the airport, your nearly don't need to walk at all to get here. And the staff is very friendly and helpful. The common area facilities are also OK and working properly.
