Excellent location, the owner is very helpful and friendly. She provided a lot of information regarding how and what to do for a throughout Madrid city tour in two days.

The balcony was very small, not quite a proper balcony, you can not have expectations to stay there on a table with a chair. The toilet was average in terms of general conditions, but clean.

The location is very well positioned, close to the city center, very safe for 2 women travelling. The staff was very nice, helpful, good value for money. They were cleaning every single day.

Lovely lady greeted me and helped carry my suitcase down 1 flight of stairs. The room was basic , clean and comfortable. Was a good location but was on a noisy street. Liked the shops and bars/restaurants nearby.

The bathroom was clean but a little small/pokey, especially to get around the door and to use the toilet. The toilet bowl itself was not secured well to the floor so we had to be careful getting on and off and could be repaired. After cleaning, the bathroom had a smell of old sponges, rather than a nice smell. It felt otherwise clean so this could be an easy thing to fix!

The hostal was very well located in then heart of Chueca. When we arrived and throughout our stay the manager was very friendly and helpful. The room was a good size and was cleaned daily. A lovely window/balcony meant with had good natural light during the day and wooden shutters and curtains for the evening. We knew that there would be lively noise in the evening and there was, but nothing that couldn't be solved by a pair of earplugs!

It can be very noisy if you have bad luck with other guests staying there. There's no much sound isolation from other rooms around so any minor noise made by other guests is easily heared. The pillow was terrible, it is a long single pillot for a double bed and hard as a rock, I had so much trouble for getting a good sleep because of that. There is a shared microwave but apparently it doesn't get cleaned often

Staff service was great, Mar (the host) was so nice when we checked in and gave us very valuable tips to move around and what places to visit. Location is great, all major touristic places are at walkable distance. Plenty of commerce and food restaurants around, metro station (Gran Via) around the corner, bus stop, etc.

Overall it was great. A kettle would have been nice and closer parking.

Excellent value for money and location for us. It was very clean and spacious. We also had a rental car so the fact that we were able to park it nearby helped.

The bed was a little stiff, I like a firm mattress but this was a bit firmer than even I'd like. The bathroom being SO small, didn't bother me but it would be tough with 2 people. Having the window obstructed was a little disappointing, because of the AC unit. That said, it was opening right on to a fairly noisy street, so I wouldn't have kept it open that much anyway.

Small room, but awesome location. Travelling alone this was easy, but the bathroom was comedically small, obviously a renovation done at some point over the years. By myself this poses no issue, traveling with someone, you'd need to be very comfortable with them. The location is awesome, close to metro, close to lots of places to eat, drink and shop. The staff, I think he was the owner, very nice guy, very friendly. Wifi was good, having a fridge was nice, and while the room was small and the window was obstructed, I never felt closed in. AC/heat worked just fine as well. I would absolutely stay here again when in Madrid, great place to be if you're on a budget, and I was really pleased with my stay there that I even extended by one day which I was lucky enough to be able to book online.

The shutters on the window didn’t seem to shut all the way. The window closed, so it wasn’t a big deal. I suppose facing the street could be seen as a bit noisy as well, but I was never bothered.

I couldn’t have asked for a better place and value for money. The room was small, but as a solo traveller that didn’t bother me. There was a fridge and a small bathroom. Amazing location, good wifi, friendly staff, AC/heat worked, daily housekeeping even if I didn’t need it. I would absolutely stay at El Catalan again.
