How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

Absolutely great hostel. Super clean. Fantastic host Jose. And his mother serving a lovely breakfast - makes you feel at home. You must try her almond cake (tarta Santiago).

Good position, super clean and Julio always ready to help. Handmade cake for breakfast! After 3 "Camino" and 60 days in France, Portugal and Spain it's my favourite hostel!

Everything was incredible. Julio was very helpful and his mother Gloria’s breakfast was awesome. Free access to a washer and dryer was very helpful. Beautiful new facilities and well designed.

The bunk rooms were a little cramped but overall a wonderful place to stay.
Immaculately clean and modern hostel with great facilities including a free washing machine and dryer. Excellent showers with nice shampoo provided. Only four people per dorm room. The breakfast was exceptional especially the fresh orange juice and homemade Santiago cake served by the host's lovely mum! Thank you.

The warm welcome from the owner in person. The facilities are useful - just what travellers need from a hostel. Well design of almost every thing. Breakfast is generous and tasty. Good atmosphere in the breakfast room too.

Wow! This is a hostel with higher quality than hotel. Top design Perfect location Very good price Julio, the owner, is a very charming and helpful guy, at my arrival was very busy but even though he still smiled, was very polite and explained everything, even asked later on if everything was ok The room had its own air conditioning, two TVs, each bed even had a little built in table Definitely recommend staying there

The facilities were wonderful and the staff so helpful and kind. I even had my washing done for me. The breakfast was amazing, the beds so comfortable and there are separate rooms with only 4 beds! This was beyond a hostel and should be a categorised hotel. It was that good a stay!!

I am really trying hard to find something to fault…but cannot!
Contemporary design, spacious and functional facilities, perfect location and what is perhaps mostly important- engaged and compassionate host/s… I have stayed at many hostels this Camino but this is second to none…Julio’s mother offering scrambled eggs at 07:00 in the morning??!!!! I guess I am the happiest pilgrim on the Camino!

By far the best hostel on the Camino. Júlio and his mom truly care about their guests and will make sure your stay is perfect. Building is clean, modern with very high quality standards. Breakfast is outstanding.

Only 2 showers/ toilets to share on our floor but it wasn’t an issue for us. Seems quite common in hostels. Just need to know what to expect.
Wonderful host who made us feel so welcome. Spotlessly clean. Nice lounge area. Washing machine and dryer for guests to use free of charge and Julio helped us so we could go and explore by putting clothes in dryer and taking them out ready for us to pick up on our return. A fabulous breakfast with scrambled eggs and Santiago tart as well as ham cheese yogurts and cereals. Freshly squeezed orange juice was superb . The cook was lovely and attentive too. Great location only metres off the Camino in the beautiful old town.

If I could only criticise one things it’s the pillows were pretty thin. But like many travellers I had some clothes to use instead. A minor point in an essentially flawless property
Quality in every detail. Just phenomenal work by Julio in creating accommodation of pure class. Everything from the rooms, the shower products, the fresh eggs and juice in the morning - all just exceptional. And Julio is such a kind and thoughtful host!

Fabulous hostel - we had one of the private facility rooms and it was light and bright and very clean and fresh. The hostel itself seems to be very new. Right in the historical centre area. Some stairs (not a lot) to negotiate if you are in the top floors. Washing machine & laundry area all very clean and a treat after a few days walking/travelling. Small outdoor terrace. Very friendly and helpful host whose mum is a delight and provides a friendly breakfast service.

Everything was just over my expectations. Julio and his mother Gloria are making everyone feel like home and they made the stay at the hostel and also visit to Pontevedra absolutely spectacular. Best breakfast on the Camino for sure. Really clean and even a bit luxurious comparing to other hostels on the Portuguese Camino route. Gracias por todo ♥️
