Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomNothing, it’s perfect
It is the best hostel I ever stayed in. It is very modern and very clean with an amazing host. We loved our stop on the Camino here. It was a pleasant surprise that we got upgraded to a room with a jacuzzi bath, but even the shared rooms and areas were completed to high standards and it is a great value for money. We got breakfast prepared by the host’s mum and it was just the best. I would strongly recommend this place, it won’t disappoint

GermanyPersonally, I believe that one big towel per person is really enough. It is a lot of laundry, considering most people just stay one night and not good for the environment. Bedside lamps are very bright and wake others up.
Basically everything! Cleanliness, proper bedlinen, 2 towels, small terrace, chests of drawers in the rooms, lockers with keys, lovely common area and kitchen, vending machine for cold drinks, modern furniture and fittings, not many beds in dorms, privacy in bathroom, free laundry including dryers, great complimentary breakfast including fresh juice and everything else needed, heating - temperature can be set by the guests individually in the dorms. A really well-designed and sophisticated concept that guarantees you a relaxing and comfortable stay. And last but not least a very caring and friendly owner, Julio, who even offered me an earlier check-in. Thank you very much!

United StatesNothing, it was exactly what we needed after a rainy day on the Camino.
Julio was a great host. Very clear check in procedure. He even followed up with us in the evening to ask if we needed anything and he recommended us a restaurant for.dinner. You can tell he takes pride in the hostel and in his work. The facilities were very clean, luxurious and modern. My husband and I booked bunk beds, but Julio was so kind as to move us to a different room with a double bed, which we appreciated. The breakfast was wonderful with a lot of variety, and even homemade cake. A wonderful stay, 10/10!

South KoreaThe host at Hostel Charino is exceptionally kind and compassionate. During a bike ride with my son, I lost track of him as he sped ahead. I followed the signs towards our destination town, but suddenly realized he might have taken a different turn. In a panic, as he had my phone, documents, and money, I found myself lost too. My main concern was for my son, waiting desperately on the road. I approached a couple for help, they graciously offered me a ride to town and alerted the police about my missing son during our Camino trip to Santiago de Compostela. Meanwhile, my son, waiting for almost two hours, contacted his father in another country who told him to head to the hostel right away, so my son called the owner of Hostel Charino. By the time the couple called the owner, and they knew that my son was en route. Finally reunited with my son at the hostel, I am immensely grateful to the couple and the hostel owner for their assistance. I felt safe and deeply moved by the kindness of the Spanish people, experiencing true hospitality. I felt incredibly fortunate and blessed. I think I met Camino angels there. The hostel owner welcomed us with a beer and provided wonderful accommodations. He also recommended a fantastic restaurant where my son and I enjoyed delicious Spanish meals. The facilities at Hostel Charino are excellent, and the complimentary breakfast, especially the freshly homemade bread and orange juice by his mom was very impressive. His mom felt like my mom. She is so warm hearted and nice. I am now delighted to have discovered this hostel and look forward to visiting Spain again with my entire family, remembering the warmth of humanity whenever I think of the country.
