Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomBreakfast although included, was basic. Tea/coffee and a tortilla but by no means unreasonable given the cost.
The hostel is extremely clean. A curtain on the bunk offered extra privacy and each with their own power point and light. Under bunk storage and a separate locker. Located right next to bus station.

SpainWiFi is very poor which is a shame. Make sure you are equipped with some Spanish to understand and communicate or have Google translate at the ready. Remember you have to adapt to another culture and language.
Clean, comfortable and staff are friendly. They provide you with sheets and blanket as well as keys for under bed storage and a locker. Spare toiletries in the bathroom - maybe left from others previously but useful if you're in a pinch. Location is good - supermrcado, farmicia and kebab shop all in vicinity

UkraineThere's a common space but it lacks hostel spirit (or personality) and doesn't look inviting. Couldn't find anyone at the reception, tried to reach them via the phone number that was left at the front desk but still got no answer - had to wait for a while. The man at the bar wasn't any help either moreover made 2 very inappropriate sexist jokes within a minute. The other man at the bar the next morning was extremely nice and helpful as well as the cleaning lady I've met the day before.
The location was great, the bed was comfy, the whole area was clean, and nice breakfast options were available at the bar.

IrelandSome basic tea/coffee options in common area could be added for the guests. No proper breakfast like milk, cereals, muffins, bread, jam/butter, juice etc. Breakfast plays an important role if it is being offered with the stay, try to work out on breakfast please.
Comfortable bed space with locker. AC kept the room chill in hot weather. Bathrooms were clean and spacious. Good common area space. Super friendly and helpful hostel staff.

United KingdomThe male staff we encountered were somewhat gruff, and unapproachable, they didn't smile at all. The cost for the rooms is a bit pricey, however Santander does seem to be a pricey city.
The beds, the shower, and bathroom were all clean, and good. The coffee, omelettes, and croissants at breakfast were excellent. The female staff were friendly, and helpful. The hostal is well located.

United KingdomCommunal areas are not good. Very tatty with 1 sofa or uncomfortable canteen style seating and florescent lights which means it’s not sociable. I sometimes sat outside the adjoining restaurant but the staff weren’t very happy with me using a table without buying anything
Very clean, fresh bedding, staff were friendly aside from challenges with language barrier (i must improve my spanish!)

The hostel is located next to train station and bus station is opposite . Large bright dorms with lockers and underbed storage. At front of the hostel is a bar and restaurant, nice atmosphere.

GermanyIt doesn't have a community vibe, so if you wanna meet people, have more of a "hostel vibe" it might not be the place for you.
The beds with curtains, socket and light were very comfortable. Big rooms, decent bathroom. The location is convenient for traveling as it's next to the train/bus station, but the area is not pretty. Can choose one breakfast option (tortilla, croissant etc plus one coffee), which is nice, but it's not a lot.

Ireland- Staff. Only one guy speak english, so expect difficulties in conversation, or learn (always good to have) basic Spanish phrases. - Staff. A printed copy of my passport was left on the desk for a three(!!!) days unattended, available to anybody passing by, after which I took it away with me. Be aware! Another thing about staff- the same guy told me to do not use an Airport car hire service, they will charge me more, instead he offered me two nearby services beside the hostel, which charged me nearly twice the price of an old, budget cars than I've paid at the Airport. Consider that! - Rooms. This one you should keep in mind that I was the ONLY person at the moment(30/11/22- 04/12/22), so be informed! Rooms are cold, no heating provided, my only option was a sunlight through a big window. A light heating was switched on on my last day, probably of the presence of another traveller. - Facilities. It's a big toilet/ shower area, which is kept clean, but smell from it filling the main corridor. Also, passing by people can easily observe of your "way of doing things"(men's section). There's nothing to hide, but slightly inconvenient. - Showers. ...well, I've been told that I need to wait around five minutes to let the water run hot, I've been waiting over ten, to have a slightly warm shower. Perhaps it's exist, I probably wasn't patient enough, but I was frozen in the shower... Could be a good start to train of body hardening... - Storage. Very small shelf in the bed area, literally for the phone. Hard to keep a bottle of water or a wallet on. - Breakfast. Guess, there's no option of "Breakfast included"(which is completely understandable), but this is the only cafe in Santander with warm (not hot) coffee- I don't know why?
- Location. Right in the City Centre, just across the main Bus Station. Very convenient for arrivals from airport. As well, hostel shares the same building with a train station(literally, you don't even leaving the building to hop on train), another one is just a few steps away to the left. Bus station across the road, three minutes by slow walk. - Food. There's a bar/cafe inside(suspect that the bar owns a hostel), good food selection, restaurant in there, but was constantly closed of my stay. - WiFi. Wouldn't say that speed was very fast but affordable, for surfing, watching YouTube. - Beds. They are alright, nothing impressive, nothing bad. - Storage. There's a locker provided with key(of your bed number) and an under bed cell, for storing boots or backpack or luggage. You need to have your own lock for it! - Location 2. Your discovery of the city starts right here. All necessary shops or cafes are within two or less minutes from hostel entrance, easy to have shopping, breakfast/dinner/supper. A sea port and a promenade is less than 7 minutes away, by very easy walking, very nice to have such walk in the morning or at the end of the day. - Car park(payable) at the back of the hostel, attached to the train departures/arrivals.
