Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomUnfortunately the goal appears to be to try and milk you and the hotel for as much cash as possible. Several events held during our stay that were very distruptive to paying guests- not what you expect when you’re paying so much a night! One night the restaurant decided to microwave all the meals because they wanted to focus on one of these events- the food was predictably terrible. Beware of the mini bar as well. The prices are not listed anywhere. We assumed they would be vaguely reasonable, but no- €34 for a g&t and some crisps and nuts! Despicable. The service is mixed- a couple of gems at dinner let down by a lot of disinterested staff and an unpleasant management ethos.
Lovely location

GermanyUnfortunately, Melia is charging way too much for what the hotel infrastructure has to offer. When you are paying over 400 EUR per night, there are certain things that should be “standard”. For example, the room we had, had a joint door to the room next door where we could hear our neighbor in the bathroom and all the noises that come with that. The restaurants/food quality vs price is not compatible. Pool and Amaro restaurants are way overpriced for what is served. Now, in the contrary, Arrels is sold as super high end and although the food is OK and price as well, the whole concept of the restaurant is confusing and it does not meet the whole experience the Melia wants to sell with this hotel. Pool/chair situation is chaos. I understand staff was always doing their best to help and accommodate the situation of the lack of chairs - but again, where is the long term solution for guests without having the employees putting down fires all day? Plus, this Melia concept (all of them) with always pushing to rent for extra money these pool beds is just getting old. First, solve the problem with space for regular chairs for your guests, and then create an “extra” space for VIP chairs. I think for Melia to charge this much for the rate and food, they need to step up on the infrastructure of the hotel, all around it.
Beautiful location, very central to drive to different day trips, relaxing atmosphere. Spa staff super friendly and accommodating. Overall, staff was super friendly. We did have a lovely weekend but felt that there is a lot of improvements to be made for price they are currently charging.

United Kingdomthe room was very dusty, and 2 singles bed put together, not I would expect for nearly £400 per night, this rate also didn’t include breakfast, we were charged 70 euros for a very standard breakfast. Pool menu and drinks over priced, room service food not great quality very salty. over all not great value for money and needs to be better for the price paid.
The pool area was nice, most staff very helpful, pool staff could be a bit happier. the views are nice and location is good.

United KingdomThe room felt a little run down and felt like it was recovering from the Covid break. Our Bathroom door did not close at all, we did mention this to the staff and they wanted to fix it or move us to another room - so that was greatly appreciated, but we didn't really want to pack our things again or move, as my wife was pregnant, so we could easily live with this. Other than that the room had a few things slightly broken or a little dirty, but nothing that would turn us away.
I liked the food, this was great from all restaurants. The Staff were also amazing, always smiling and helpful. Each person we dealt with was amazing.

United KingdomDark interior - very small bedrooms, two single beds were more like double separated unnecessary sofa in room where there was no space. Red Level is offered in an enclosed area inside the hotel - cannot sit outside with drinks snacks offered. Pointless offer.
Sunbeds pool area beautiful setting by the sea. Stunning location.

United KingdomThe hotel must have been amazing pre pandemic, but we can sense that the owners have slashed costs (e.g. very short menu, overpriced items, lots of them missing too), the staff is overwhelmed and massively understaffed (suspect people left due to the pandemic and were never hired back). This is no longer a 5* hotel, even less so a 'Leading Hotels of the World'... it's a very good 4* hotel with nice amenities, but that's it. In a nutshell, it's terrible value for money and you can get way more for your money in many other hotels and parts of the world (i.e. Ritz prices but Hilton quality)!
Amazing location and venue. Extremely well behaved clientele making it the perfect location to have a quiet and relaxing stay. Friendly (although massively understaffed) staff. The rooms are big with lots of storage.
