Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

MexicoWe were alone on the property during the night. We were even given the keys to the place to lock once we went away, instructing us to leave the key in the other hotel they have on the opposite side of the town. This latter place was much better than where we stayed. We wondered why we were not offered to stay there, even if the cost was higher.
There was no breakfast.

United StatesWe reserved a room for three. It had three beds but very cramped. Was really the size of a double. Room was a walk from the rest of the property. We found the 7:00 meal was booked so we would have to wait till 8:00 pm. Too late for us!
This is a modern property that serves as a vacation setting as well as a place for pilgrims. Has many features such as a spa, pool, etc. the breakfast buffet was good.

United StatesDifficult to find. Have to check in at albergue 1km through town then walk back. FYI it was a brutal day of walking to get to El Acebo. Upstairs above a restaurant. Nevertheless it was comfortable.
Restaurant food was exceptional!

United StatesI wish our room had a clean toilet. Also, they did not have air conditioning.
The location was great, right there on the way into town. We had dinner there and it was delicious. The room my daughter and I had had a dirty toilet so that was not good. My husband and son's room was right across the hall and their room was clean. My husband and daughter walked up to their other property and used the swimming pool. That is also where we had breakfast in the morning. The breakfast was nice because it started at 6:30- a little earlier that usual on the Camino. The breakfast was a buffet with coffee, juice, cakes, toast, ham and cheese.

AustraliaNote there appear to be two establishments sharing the same name, the old upper one (which we enjoyed) serving as a feeder for the far larger one 400m further down the hill (which is modern, soulless, and more expensive). So no food in our place, or breakfast, which requires long walk (maybe in rain) and back again.
Large room with great hot shower, lovely old stone building so very quiet.

United StatesOverpowering floral scent; I had to unplug them all and put them on the balcony. (This is one of my pet peeves. It may not trouble others.) It was not clear to me when I was booking that this was not a private room in the albergue, which is about 1/2 km down the road, and is where the spa is, and where they serve dinner and breakfast (not included in price). It's part of the same ownership and has a similar name, but is a hostal, not an albergue. I ended up like this place a lot, but had thought I was reserving for the albergue.
Huge room with a small balcony overlooking the village (hamlet?). Bathroom also big. Was hungry when I arrived at 4 and they made me a fabulous sandwich with ham and vegetables in it (very seldom get the vegetables). They spoke English, which was helpful for me. Someone helped me up to my room with my bags, which I seldom experienced during my entire three-week long trip. Great for the price.

United StatesReserve at the ALBERGUE! This building is an overflow and way far from where there is dinner and breakfast. Luckily, the staff was kind enough to move my reservation, but that was only possible due to the off season. ALSO, the pool, spa, and sauna were all closed with no explanation or apology.
The Mountain views were delightful. Great menu of the day with lots of options and beautiful space to gather.
