Our Spanish! The family who run the hotel were very tolerant of our pathetic attempts, and full of smiles - but it would have been great to be able to chat to locals who gather for a beer at sundown, and local tales of bears invading the village (apparently more here than anywhere else in Spain) and other creatures - this area is teeming with wildlife.

We loved this charming traditional village and stunning and unspoilt mountain scenery - saw a snake, lizards and so many wild flowers and butterflies. Spent morning hiking up to the abandoned village (we managed it with plenty of small stops, even though we’re in our sixties and not particularly fit), walking past locals farming in the traditional way. Beautiful scent of drying hay in the air, the sound of birdsong, crowing cockerels and cowbells and spectacular mountain views. Back to the hotel for what felt like the tastiest cold beer ever. And the food! Absolutely fantastic home cooked food (prepared by the hotel owner, who puts on a special hat and becomes ‘the chef’) super tasty and huge portions. No exaggeration to say this was some of the best food we had in two week Asturias and Galicia road trip - and we both love our food. Over-used word, but it was the epitome of ‘authentic’. Order one dish between two - try the cachopas (spelling from memory), leek pie with cheese sauce, excellent salads and apple pud - not all at once, though. You will burst! Download a great novel before you go (internet very sketchy) and spend the afternoon in deep peace. You will feel a million miles away from the madness of modern life. Our two nights here felt like a retreat - the kind of place you could spend much longer to reset, recharge and remember how beautiful nature is without all the (literal and metaphorical) noise.

    Nothing, the real Pico's

A right rural location 7 miles up a mountain lane located in a small dairy farming community. If you want to feel part of the community, this is it. Great beer, local food is fantastic sat in bar - well worth a visit. Motorcycles parked in courtyard leading to rooms to be out of way of passing cattle!

The stairs were slippy for our dog.

The room was comfortable and clean. There was a lounge area which felt homely and had a lovely glazed area to sit and relax. The food is outstanding, full of flavour and perfectly cooked, in good hearty portions. All in a breathtaking location.

Great stop over location during motorcycle tour of Pico's located 7 at end of road in small farming hamlet. Great atmosphere in bar with walkers and locals all enjoying evening. Food ace with huge steaks. well worth a visit.

Non existent service, lack of restaurant opening hours, no other shop or bar for 26km…your trapped!! On arrival we immediately appeared to be an inconvenience. A request for food was met with a grumpy..kitchen opens at 21:00…despite advertising 20:00..after a 9 hr drive not ideal..eventually made some ham on toast. Breakfast, toast and selection of jams…no hot food as chef doesn’t start till 12:00. Made sure after this we ate out. Ordering drinks from the barman/owner is like asking him to sacrifice himself…the lady was a bit more friendly but every request seemed to be a struggle…service not a strong point!!…we, along with another couple staying we left totally bemused by our experience vs expectations..they too had read the great reviews…anyone who can rate this accommodation a 3/4/5 has not travelled.

Access to the local walks was about the only good thing. Not sure how the reviews are working on Google but this “Hotel” does not meet many expectations.
