Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomWalls are really thin unfortunately so didn’t sleep well due to next door guests using the bathroom, other guests going up & down the stairs & corridors.
Value for money, we needed a last minute room close to the airport. Staff were friendly & helpful, rooms were clean & comfortable

United KingdomGreat location just mins from the Guggenheim and major attractions, very comfortable rooms and it's two minutes walking high up in a hill so it's quiet. They have vending machines for coffee and a microwave, though there is a bar just mins away

HungaryWe broke down with our motorbike and had to find an accomodation quickly. We were lucky to find this pension because everything went easily. The saff was very kind and helpful with us, they are absolutely flexible. Our room was well cleaned. Thank you for the gentleman in the recepcion his help again. The location is pretty good, the rampart and the city center is just 5 minutes by walk.

AustraliaThe wi-fi was shocking. There was no tea making facilities in the room. Not enough towels provided for two people. No lift which is a problem when you have large suitcases.
It was very clean and well maintained. Parking is available for 10 Euro a night. Beds were comfortable. Toons were a good size Good security.

IrelandNOTHING!!!
I liked the friendly staff, particularly Itziar, a very pleasant lady who was generous with information about the best restaurants and buses to get around the city and Oliver, also a smiling friendly gentleman. The double room was spacious and spotlessly clean, as was the ensuite bathroom. Clean towels and linen were frequently on offer over our 5 nights from the pleasant lady in charge of cleaning..The substantial windows kept out the sounds of traffic .The location was close to the Guggenheim, a must-see in Bilbao, and dining was great.

SwedenThe room smelled like tobacco, but the staff said they were full and couldn't change me to another room. It's very noisy - I could hear everything from the rooms next door (conversations, if they have dropped somethings, even the toilet) and a lot of 'outside' noise (traffic and people).Had to sleep with noise cancelling headsets. Also the location is not good, in spite of the reviews. It felt that it was on the 'wrong' side of the river. To go to the museum you have to either walk in some weird places, under bridges and hidden accesses or climb a very long set of stairs. It was hard to go places with public transportation, if you were going to the old part of the city or the airport.
The staff is nice.

United StatesWe were told by the property before arrival that getting a parking spot would not be a problem but upon arrival were told there was no space available, we had to drive for a long time and park a 15 minutes walk away. The front desk is not open 24/24 but from 11 to 8pm. There was no AC and the walls are paper thin so you can hear everything happening in other rooms and the hallway.

United KingdomSimple, clean room and good bathroom. A nice view from the room and very quiet. Close to a metro stop and supermarket, the funicular and a lovely square, the river, and tram stop. It felt very safe walking back at night as the area is well lit. We arrived late and the staff provided the keycodes so we could arrive whenever. Basic but great value for money!

NetherlandsSomeone went into our room when we were away, even though we put out the sign to not enter the room. It is extremely noisy, both in the room and outside. Not just the highway or the road directly next to the hotel, you can hear everything happening inside the hotel. Our windows and doors made a lot of noise from the lightest touch. The bathroom was covered in mould. It was on the ceiling, the shower curtain and the seams. When we wanted to leave (around 10 o’clock), they had closed the garage and we had to wait an hour before the person at the front desk came back. They didn’t tell us there would be times the garage would be closed, so we left our garage key in the car. After asking multiple other guests luckely someone let us out, no thanks to the staff that didn’t help us at all. All around a bad experience.
The location was fine. Steep hill but doable.
