The street underneath is noisy until the early hours so if you're a light sleeper with a room that opens onto it, it could be difficult

There was no elevator in the hostel building. You may have to walk up to the second floor to get to the hostel. As for the bed, I took the lower bunk but the space between the lower bunk and the upper bunk was so small that I could not sit up straight if I sit on my bed. The room was relatively small. It was a little stuffy at night as my roommates decided to close the window / balcony door tightly to keep out the noise from the street outside. The street outside is a restaurant street, the restaurants in which do not close until 00:00 to 02:00am.

The location is excellent. You can take the train from the airport to get to Sol station where you can take the escalator up to the street level (choosing the Puerta De Sol Exit). It takes only a 5 to 8 minute walk from the exit to the hostel. The staff are generally quite nice and helpful but sometimes they don't know much about the shows on the flyers displayed in their hostel. The kitchen and common area attached to it closes at 00:00. It seems there's another common area in the other side of the hostel which may not have a closing time (not sure). Perhaps you can tidy up your belongings there if you are worried about waking up your roommates. There is a nice terrace (with tables and chairs) outside the kitchen, which is quite nice. A cat greeted me when I set foot in the terrace, perhaps a cat that roamed the neighbourhood.

They put me in the upper floor so not in the main hostel. It didn't feel as a hostel at all.

Reception stayed longer open coz our flight arrived late. Normally closes (for check-in) at midnight. Location is in busy tourist area which is open until late - and noisy, which I don't care about. Restaurants and bars on all sides. Barbieri is on 2nd floor and has a terrace. Kitchen has microwave, however the gas stove was out of service (maybe safer?).

The room we were in is a bit cold. They turn on the heating from 8pm and turns off at 8am. I struggled with insufficient heating in the room.

The location is central. Easy access to all attractions. Clean facilities and friendly staff.

A little bit of greater care for the room would be easy and cheap to do and would add greatly add to the experience. As it is, it looks rather like a prison cell. All that is needed is re-painting it, a picture or two on the walls, hooks in sensible places, a table and lamp by one of the beds (one bed had these, the other didn't). The room had a metal cabinet of 3 lockable shelves which was ugly - like a filing cabinet. Replacing this with some nice plain wooden shelves and just one lockable unit would make it so much nicer (why would a twin room need 3 lockable shelves?!). The bathroom was seriously tiny but the shower was good; a hook for the shower instead of having to hold it would make alot of difference.

Location is perfect. The cost of a very plain twin room with a tiny bathroom was okay for the location but what made this a good price was the lovely terrace. So you could get a similar deal elsewhere, with a more inviting room, but without the terrace. I prefer to have some outside space and this definitely made up for the very modest room. The place was clean and the room was also cleaned every day. Most of the staff were very friendly and approachable.

The beds were creaky, and if you are a light sleeper, you might have to reconsider booking this hostel, since even with a closed window, you could hear everything that went on outside (and it was a busy street). Luckily, I was exhausted while staying in this hostel, so I didn't really mind.

The location was perfect. The staff was nice. The facilities were clean. The kitchen was well-equipped. The terrace was cozy.

I didn’t like the fact that for the price given, the beds could have been better, especially when it comes to bunkers. In other hostels, for the same the bunkers were better.

The only thing to be aware of is that this hostel is located in the centre of the party zone and Madrid parties every night so it’s rowdy and busy, but that can also be a good thing because you have everything at your doorstep and can safely and cheaply walk home. Forget about getting any sleep before midnight though.

Loved the staff at this hostel - so helpful, warm and great to chat to. I also paid for the laundry service and it was far more perfect than I would ever do myself! It’s totally self-catered, but I think the beautiful terrace makes up for this. The location was ultra convenient and you’re in the heart of the city so you can walk everywhere (if you can handle the heat!). The hostel was one of the cleanest I’ve ever stayed in.

The area it is in was very loud. Major tourist hub. Lots of parties in the neighborhood all night long. If you like to sleep with the window open like us, use noise cancelling earbuds and you will be ok.

Great location. Close to metro. Walking distance to Puerto del Sol, most major attractions. Within the hostel, very quiet. I think we were the only ones on our floor while we were there. There was a great roof top terrace and a kitchen. Our room was very large and comfortable. We have been staying in some pilgrim hostels. So our own room was a luxury. But we compare everything to pilgrim hostels. It’s not fancy. But it’s clean, safe and very welcoming staff. I’ll stay again when I’m in Madrid.
