Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaIt may be my fault but I thought that I was getting a one bedroom apartment. It turned out to be a bedroom in an apartment. It was relatively private but for the price I paid, a private room at a hostel would have been much more cost efficient
Host was lovely and very Responsive. She was happy to help when I needed to do washing. The bed was very comfy and the room was very clean.

Italy(.. continue from before...) The room therefore has no view of the outside, as is normally expected: you couldn't tell if it was day, night, sun or rain, because the light never arrives, the air exchange was practically absent! Claustrophobic conditions! And this is an "anomalous" condition that a customer does not expect and which therefore should be correctly reported in the description and not cunningly kept silent! And this is the most serious thing about the description on the site!!! A practically blind room, this is not normal, not declaring this ANOMALY is misleading for customers!! My wife and I felt "cheated" in our choice. The room was of minimal dimensions, with a 40 cm wide wardrobe (practically a broom holder), and one (I mean ONE!) bedside table alone, for the "double" bed, 1.40 m wide. In fact, the photo on the room's website shows only one bedside table, only partially showing the wall of the headboard of the bed, but this too is a misleading and partial description: since when does a DOUBLE room have only one bedside table??? I had to put my personal effects on the floor... We asked to change rooms, we were offered another one with a "shaft view", a little larger but without a wardrobe!! Finally, to be able to use such a tiny room it would have been necessary to put the suitcases at least under the bed! Unfortunately a double mattress was "stored" under the bed (see photo). By the way: the Internet connection, praised in the advertising, NEVER worked. Finally: I did the room cleaning and bed making. The lady who manages the apartment / rooms / niches, I don't know if she is available or friendly as other customers say on the site, because I only saw her on the day of entering the apartment, then never again. The bathroom was actually nice, with two sinks, it was a pity that one of the two sinks was clogged and therefore not very usable (see photo).
THE ONLY POSITIVE THING IS THE POSITION CLOSE TO THE CITY CENTER FOR THE REST... UNHAPPY CHOICE, NEVER AGAIN... It is a structure described "slyly" on Booking, on the site there is a largely partial description, in evident bad faith and specious. Just to make you understand: The apartment is located at the third floor. Already on the stairs of the condominium there was an unpleasant smell of sewage from the ground floor up to the 3rd floor. I then noticed this smell, it had also been reported months ago by another user. Entering the apartment we fell into the persistent smell of rancid oil that characterizes the apartment and which is renewed almost daily. Yes, because the family that lives in the apartment and manages the rooms fry very often for lunch or dinner. FIRST AMBIGUITY: the offer described on your site is misleading, it is not, as written on the Booking site: "mirador 1 de mercato central, una abitacion con baño privato" but "a house inhabited by a family, in which a room with private bathroom is rented." It is obvious that this persistent smell and the fact that the family lived and lived in the apartment, frying their own lunches/dinners, precluded us from using the kitchen (at least as a common space) as was intended in the notice on Booking. At the entrance to the apartment several pairs of dirty shoes and slippers were on display, the ownership of which is unknown. (See photo) SECOND "AMBIGUITY": The photo of the offer is misleading: in it there appears to be a curtain in the room, which suggests the presence of a window, but when we opened the curtain, an opening measuring 1.5 x 3 m appeared outside the window ( a tiny shaft, in which all the drainage pipes of the bathrooms on the upper floors are located (see photo) that is a kind of narrow well which develops vertically for about 25 metres, from the third floor to the 11 (eleventh) floor. The room therefore has no view of the outside!!!

AustraliaThe property is not as advertised. It is not an apartment to yourself and do not go by the pictures or advertised ammenities. You are paying for a very small room in a house shared with the owners a couple )whom are Chinese and do not speak English) their son grandchild and other quests when booked .
The location was great . The host are friendly and quiet.
