Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

FinlandIn the room I hoped there would have been a dimmer reading light or something to make it look a bit softer after sunset - the lights were bright and somehow didn’t feel like fitting in.
The room was spacious and the bathroom clean and roomy. The old house has its charm.

United StatesThe room's bathroom was fine, but fixtures are old and could be updated.
The location is ideal. The hotel is a converted historic private home close to beaches, boardwalk and metro to Bilbao.

United StatesWhat could be a drawback to some travelers, is the fact that the hotel's front desk is not open 24/7. They are open for check-in only between the hours of 6pm to 9pm, and for check-out only between 8am to noon.
The staff at Hotel Neguri were especially kind, fun-loving, and gracious to our little group of 6 seniors (3 couples). We enjoyed the prime location and the beauty of Hotel Neguri's vintage Basque architecture. We even found the climb to our rooms (2 floors up; no elevator) invigorating. (So glad we packed lightly. :) We found our rooms spotlessly clean and the beds invitingly comfortable. Having arrived nearly-famished(!), after a long overseas journey, we found the hotel most conveniently located, right next door to a marvelous restaurant called Mi Gaea. (Highly recommend!) In the morning, rather than dine at the hotel for breakfast, we chose the short walk to delightful Zurikaldai Neguri bakery and savored the rich espresso and the local breakfast delicacies ~ to die for! It was also a lovely evening walk to the restaurants by the dock. Our visit coincided with a most unusual heat wave, so the street noise was noticeable since windows had to be open for fresh air. (Not a factor for us, though, since we pack earplugs. :) All in all, we were definitely satisfied with the hotel staff's friendliness, the overall value, and the convenient location of Hotel Neguri. If we ever book another cruise embarking from Getxo in the near future, we would definitely return to lovely Hotel Neguri.

United StatesThe stairs creaked quite loudly, due to their age, and I worried I was disturbing other guests each time I went up and down them.
I loved the location, the friendly staff, the view out my window, cleanliness and old world charm.

United KingdomThe bathroom needed an upgrade but bearing in mind the recent pandemic this was forgiven. There was variety at breakfast, the produce was fresh and the coffee great but it was exactly the same every day for one week, some additions would have been nice.

FranceOverall, it is extremely noisy and you hear both the non stop cars from the road next to the hotel and other peoples rooms (to the point where you cannot sleep even if not a light sleeper). Then also the cleanliness could be improved and rooms could include a kettle tea/coffee and glasses for guests.
The staff was nice and the hotel is well located (you can easily reach Bilbao or other neighbouring towns with the metro) and includes parking

United StatesBuilding was past charming, more like deteriorating. Outdoor porch furniture in bad condition. Outside stairs and porch showing years of neglect. No elevator or central air. Room on the thirds floor, was bare bones, a little fan was the only way to cool the room. As depressing as a college dorm room from the 60’s. Instruction were provided via email to access the front door key and room key. No one was available to greet us, show us around or answer any questions. The entire experience was so bad and yet the daily rate was more that all the other hotel arrangements we made for our trip that I feel obligated to describe this location as an “F”.

GermanyThere is no air conditioning in the room and a really, really loud street directly in front of the building. So you can either sleep with windows closed and sweat or sleep with open windows and have cars, trucks and motorcycles extremely loudly rush directly beside your bed. We were really tired after 3 days not sleeping well. So if noise is an important aspect for you, this might not be the right hotel for you, or at least not a street-facing room.

ItalyThe room was in a hot and humid attic, it was all full of ants everywhere, on the walls, on the beds, on the floors.. the room was not equipped with a fire alarm system, despite the fact that the whole building was made of wood, including our room! The floor makes a crazy creaking when you walk and it becomes impossible for others to rest..
The location is excellent, a few steps from the metro and the police station. We didn't have breakfast at the hotel. The bed was often inhabited by black ants, they were all over the room, it wasn't uncomfortable, it was just full of ants

Abkhazia, GeorgiaThe room had a slopping roof in the middle that was in the way and you had to walk bent over. The wardrobe was coming apart. The shower was too small and couldn't move in it without opening the doors. I don't think the room was worth the money.
