Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

MexicoThe size of the rooms are super small (ie. no closet or much room to move) and the shower is the size of a postage stamp.... but this is the limitation of the building, so not really an issue that can be addressed. Mattress was thin and very uncomfortable.
This is a simple and clean hotel for the money. We selected it based on the location and proximity to the museums which was perfect. The staff was super friendly and very accommodating. The rooms have no coffee maker or seating, so there was at least is a nice small lounge for having breakfast or sitting to read emails.

AustraliaIt was a 'balcony room' not much of a balcony, not enough to put a chair on. Plus, because it faced the street you could hear people laughing and calling out in front of the club/discoteca across the street all night and morning long. Remember this is Spain so it goes really late. Double glazing and ear plugs barely eliminated the noise. A non-street facing room would be better. The air conditioning was set to winter mode so it did not cool. Given that the weather was warm, summer for most of the rest of Europe (26+C) the made the room quite stuffy and too hot for me at least. Room very small room with shower to match.
Great location. Friendly and helpful staff. Comfy bed.

United KingdomReally nothing to dislike
This is a perfect hotel for two friends, or, in my case, my sister and me. We loved our room - it was stylish and clean with comfortable beds and a very nice shower ensuite. There is a small ‘kitchen room’ which generously offers good coffee, water, snacks, throughout the day and a facility for you to heat your own food if you wish. The staff are very friendly and always on hand. The location is wonderful - small interesting streets which lead to main thoroughfares. There are lovely small restaurants all around. The hotel itself is also very quiet although the area is lively. I thoroughly recommend this little hotel for a great trip to Madrid with a friend or partner.

United StatesIt's not that I didn't like it, but the room was a bit small. I found, however, that the room was so well arranged that it didn't matter.
It was very clean, and the rooms, although small, were well arranged. There was a nice sitting room to enjoy complimentary coffee and snacks. The staff was very welcoming.

SingaporeThe location is in the central, close to most attractions, Plaza mayor, Puerta Del Sol, Mercado De San Miguel and about 10mins walk to Gran Via. The location is hard to find as the signboard is pretty small and not prominent. You need to press the bell and walk up a dimly lit stairs to the second level. This is one of our favorite hotels that provides small breakfast snacks with coffee and tea in a small pantry room with some chairs and comfortable sofas. This rest place is a good gesture, compliment from the hotel, where we can rest after a long walk and let us feel at home. A quiet place where we can read books, probably interact with other guests. The hotel bedroom is rather small but the facilities are good. I like that every details are in view of the guest comfort. We love this hotel and would highly recommend. Their front desk staff are very friendly and extremely helpful. I wanted to compliment Luis for his excellent service, the morning that we left for the airport. We had booked a taxi the night before. It was raining in early hours of the morning when the sky is still dark, the taxi defaulted on us. We were panicky as we might miss our plane as there is no empty taxi in sight. Luis came running down towards us and offer to flag a taxi from the main street. There is still no taxi after 10mins. It was very cold outside and the wind was blowing hard, he was drenched a little, we were appreciative that he never gave up. Finally, he managed to get a taxi. Thankfully and with great relief we had arrived in the airport. Kudos to Luis and the front desk ladies for their great services and a memorable stay in this hotel.

The location is excellent, nearby Plaza del Sol and the metro station. Cafes, bars, restaurants, shops are around in a region full of entertainment. I was in a quite room and the noise did not disturb the sleeping. The hostel is very clean. Room and bathroom are small, but even so are comfortable. Breakfast is not provided but they have a space with a coffee machine, micro wave and a small refrigerator supplied with milk . Hot water and tea bags are also available. Easily to reach the main attractions walking. Public transportation is efficient in the town. Front desk is not available 24/day but hostel employees can be easily found all the time.

United StatesRooms are a little snug. I had an interior room which was a little bigger than the rooms with windows facing the street.
Located right in the center of Madrid, with wonderful restaurants and bars footsteps away. Rooms were quiet, clean and comfortable. Air conditioning worked well. A little common area for tea and coffee, open most of the day. Friendly staff! I’d stay here again.

ItalyI would add more shampoo and shower gel - we needed to buy the bottles at the supermarket at some point, since the travel-size packages offered were too little for the two of us (especially with the warm weather, where we got to 3 showers/day!)
Location is perfect as a starting point to reach all the central and nice neighborhoods. The room was super clean (very high value for allergic people like me), all new and renovated recently. Windows as well, so that the noise of the center was not at all bothering our sleep. There's a common area where you can have a coffee, water and some snacks and it's amazing to have in those very warm afternoon where we waited a bit to go outside.
