How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

The staff was really kind and offering help to whatever reason like giving recomndations for trips, providing maps, etc. Breakfast was included which is exceptional for a Hostel. You were treated like being in a family. Also the beds were quite comfy. Very nice in all and had a nice stay, just can recommend.

The 2 bathrooms for the dorms can be a bit inconvenient when there’s many guests at the same time and you’re in a hurry in the morning.
The atmosphere in the hostel is just great. Feels very welcoming from the beginning. People are caring and the place feels like home. Great location to go for hikes in Anaga. Easy parking possibilities. Got everything you could ask for. Coming back for sure!

We loved everything about patio Hostel!
Absolutely an amazing place! We immediately felt at home and welcome staying at patio Hostel. Comfy beds Great location for exploring the area Definitely would recommend this to anyone and it would be a place we would return too All the staff and visitors were friendly and helpful Breakfast was great! Especially the cake!

Lovely hostel with cool residents and friendly staff. They put out the breakfast (& fresh cake!) the night before so I could start cycling at 6am. Thank you guys.

The owners are really nice and have created a great environment, the place is clean, they ensure no sounds from 11 PM so easy to sleep and have a good rest. Nice interior space to just hang out or practise yoga. Super recomendable!!

Frequently all two bathrooms are occupied
Bathrooms get cleaned constantly. Curtains on all the beds. Market right in front. Nice Patio where everyone gathers so you can meet people

If I must say something I would say that my pillow was a little too flat. Else it was fine.
Very enjoyable feeling inside. The patio outside is a really good "facility" to easily meet people. I loved the breakfast.

As a non-smoker, I didn't appreciate folks chain-smoking in the open social area. But I understand it comes with the territory. Two bathrooms for everyone means you may often have to wait a little.
Pretty much everything. Very nice hosts and fellow travelers. Good breakfast. Fun, laid-back atmosphere.

A bit noisy, in the rooms you hear every spoken word from the patio. And there is a bus stop just in front of the window. But it's ok and completely made up for the great atmosphere in the hostel!
Great atmosphere, clean and cozy! Cool people, easy to connect for alone travellers. That's what counts for me. Well located for starting all kinds of activities.

The patio area is a great place to relax and meet other people whatever time of day. Manu and Marina create a fantastic atmosphere and really look after guests.

Sometimes had to wait for the bathroom.
Very friendly hosts with really friendly guests. Bed was comfortable, wifi was stable and fast. The vibe was very good in the hostel and I loved the social place/terrace. I loved the home made ingredients for the breakfast.

The kind of hostel I like. Very nice and kind owners and volunteers will make you feel at home and comfortable. Big outdoor patio and garden is a great plus and perfect to hang out and meet people. Relaxing atmosphere

A minor(!) thing is that maybe an extra bathroom or toilet (there are 2 for 24 people) wouldn’t hurt, but if it’s during the “busy hours” they will probably let you borrow the staff’s :)
Can only recommend this hostel!! :) So lovely, especially the patio! Really nice staff and other guests. You get your own box with a locker for your valuables.
