Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

JapanThe wall thin. No AC.
Location, very close to the train station, staff were very kind and helpful. Clean and tidy. We’ve got an own balcony. There is a shared space with a sink, water server and fridge. It was enough to stay over night.

JerseyWalls are paper-thin and I was unlucky enough to have an idiot staying in the next room who spoke loudly on the phone all through the night so my sleep was severely disturbed. Shame as spoiled my stay and otherwise would have been 9/10.
Very nice place and good value with friendly staff. Modern accommodation and seems newly refurbished. Well organised but prefer not to check in at a different location.

FranceWe asked the staff if we could keep our luggages after the checkout but they didn't replied to our message.
The room was clean and sunny, with a relaxing balcony. It was 20 minutes by foot far away from the city center.

HungaryVery weak wifi, practically unusable The heating was turned off in the evening and there was no heating during the night - as it was really cold outside, the room cooled quickly. The one extra blanket was not enough to keep us warm The room was quite noisy because it faces a busy main road.
Helpful staff (the key has to be picked up in another building about 5 minutes walk away) Parking house nearby, with 40% discount for the pension guests (cost was 12 EUR for 24 hrs) Fairly equipped kitchenette in the common area

New ZealandThe air con unit was out of order during our stay, there were fans available, but opening windows was also required. We booked this as we thought it included free parking, however parking is 4-hour pay as you go slots or free parking away from the hotel (had to do a few loops for a spot), the host also advised there was a customer deal for a €12 euro option in a parking block - all in all, nothing to ruin a trip over but just another thing to think about if this is a facility you need.
Did what it said on the box and good for a last minute booking for a night. Rooms clean and functional and a 20 - 30 min walk to the Old Town.

SpainAll was good really especially for the price just there was a leak in the bathroom and every so often there was a smell of something not really nice, not sure what it was. Also the WiFi did not seem to work on the desk provided but worked at the other side of the room which was annoying but not the end of the world. All in all a great stay.
This was the best pensión ive stayed in I would say. Friendly staff and room was clean, I also had a shower in my room which was a nice bonus.

TaiwanYou have to take 3 minute walk to another place to check in and get the key first. Need to ring the bell to let door open (i was confused standing outside for awhile)
Staff is friendly. There's a public space where you can get filtered water (hot, warm, cold). Super nice for traveler! Have an escalator! (Important for ppl who have luggages) It only takes few minutes from train station by bus, about 20 minutes walk to the old town. No air conditioner but have a fan, which is fine for me even in summer time!

IcelandThe shower was inside the room? Just out in the open in the corner of the room with only a shower curtain separating it from the bedroom. We only stayed for one quick night and didn't use it, but I just imagine how the room must get steamy and damp, and the floor wet, when it is used. Very strange setup that I have never encountered before. Also, the fridge in the kitchen smelled quite bad.
Decently clean, room had a little balcony, and the kitchen seemed decent. There was a communal balcony area that was quite spacious and roomy, kinda wish I had gotten to stay longer than for a quick sleep, just to get to use the outside area.
