How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

A very loud group of people coming in very late waking us up...street also noisy below.
Very clean and with helpful amenities. The man who was in reception was super nice and helpful with out bags and reserving a cab for us. He does a great job maintaining the space !

Our room was on the noisy side of the building with traffic, etc. all through the night. We found the keys a bit tricky for the exterior door into the building. No laundry service or kitchen available.
This pension was easy to find and close to a wonderful breakfast spot. It was close to the Alameda Park and the main walking street to the Cathedral with lots of shops and restaurants. The bus stop to the airport and bus/train station is only a two or three minute walk away. It was clean and comfortable for one night.

Excellent location - on the edge of the centre of Santiago, a short walk to the train and bus station. Great value for money for such a central location. Also really appreciated the host waiting for us for our later check in, and for letting us store our backpacks the following morning after check out.

Difficult to find as there no any sign outside. Didn’t stay with shared bathroom before so need to queue for bathroom.
Good hotel at that price. Good location.

The sounds of doors opening and closing was loud in the morning. Possibly could use some material to soften the impact of the doors on frames?

Well worn bordering on threadbare. Rooms facing the street were noisy. Laundry was a washer but when we asked about using it, the innkeeper directed us to a laundry facility nearby.

No laundry service or facility, you will need to go to a laundromat. You will have several keys to navigate the room, pension and building.
Clean, comfortable room. Big bathroom, hair dryer, shampoo & bath gel. Excellent location with many cafes, patisseries, shops near. Not far from Cathedral or the bus station.

Excellent location close to cathedral, cafes and parks. The accommodation and bathrooms are very clean and there is a nice communal sitting room in which to relax. The owner is very friendly and helpful.

They need a better sign outside. I walked past it several times without seeing the small sign.
Located just a 5 minute walk from the cathedral. Nice place with 2 bathrooms on the hall.

The doors are really, REALLY loud – they all close with a bang. Since it's the last stop on the Camino expect people to come in after partying anytime until 5am, and others to start leaving at 6am for the airport. If you are a light sleeper you might get better rest elsewhere!
Super clean room and bathrooms, hot shower and bath and plenty of towels. Quiet except for the doors.

We had hoped the washing machine would work, but we weren’t able to get that to happen.
We had a great stay at Pension Hedrass. It was at the end of our Portuguese Camino ‘hike’ and a wonderful spot to recover from our last long and very hot day on the trail. The staff were great, we had a balcony view of the street, clean rooms and bathrooms, extra supplies in the bathrooms, quiet and peaceful, a lounge to work in when others were sleeping, and close proximity to great food options plus the cathedral. It exceeded our expectations! It was easy to get a taxi to take us to the airport at 4 am as the location was directly across from a large hotel.
