How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Nothing really. Was pretty much as described with the addition of free wi-fi.
Value for money. Location. Very clean and quiet. Ideal for me as a single traveller.

Not enough shared bathrooms really. Lot of very narrow stairs to get to my room. Not easy to negotiate with a suitcase although the landlady helped me with my case on the way up, which was really nice of her.
Location is fantastic. Room was nicer than I expected. Everything was kept impeccably clean, which is not easy with the shared bathrooms. Despite location very little noise after midnight.

No soundproof, no kettle in the room. Bed was old. 4. floor without lift, very narrow stairs. The room only for sleeping. Street parking is impossible nearby, I parked about 1 km from hostel.
Very good location, in the center, 3 min to the beach. Toiletries in the bathroom. Cleaning every day.

Location is 42yds from the Beach,..shops, restaurants, cafe's etc everything within 20yds,.ATM 40yds,..mostly all private rooms with excellent Hygiene,..The host lives in the building directly above the land mark of the Paloma Restaurant,..

Top floor meant a load of steps. Last set to our room were very narrow and we had a very big case (best to unpack before that staircase). Needed to open windows for cool but noisy till 12ish but overall nice.
Position was excellent. Room got hot as on top floor but could be cooled down given it was November. The lady did well considering lack of English.

maybe beforehand it would be good to give instructions for check-out. On the departure day I wanted to hand back the key for check out and leave my luggage for a few hours. As there is no reception I wasn’t sure where I can do that so I texted the property about it on WhatsApp. I didn’t get a reply immediately so I rang the doorbell where it said “imformacion”. A lady opened and took my key but said she doesn’t know about the luggage. I ended up just leaving my luggage in the “lobby” when you enter after the first steps to right and picked it up later. The property texted me later back “okay” when I was already at the airport 😄 so all good, just a bit confusing!

Had issues getting hot water running on my room. After talking to the owners I had to use the shared shower. Got a refund from the owners who tried to fix the issues.

Staff very unfriendly and not helpful. The only staff which was very nice was the cleaner. They made a comment without knowing I could understand them. The comment was not very friendly. I called the owner because I had an issue to solve. She did not pick up and never called me back. Rude is the name for it. Room too small with only a window facing the inner corridor. Evening receptionist totally unfriendly. It is the owner's brother who is kind of disable. Owner should hire someone properly for this task.
Location was good. Cleanness in the room okay.

The stairs but my knees .
For £250 a week .. when the place I went last year for £350 now want £480 . This was a great find . Just simple room ...no WiFi and shared clean toilet.

At times there was quite a lot of noise at night (rooms not soundproof).
All was required, considering that I paid a very low price for four nights (compared to what surrounding hotels ask in terms of fees)
