How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

It wasn’t warm enough to have the airco on but with the window open it was noisy.
Its location was great for bars and restaurants and being central and near the metro. it wasn’t a weekend or summer’s evening so wasn’t hugely disturbing but the proximity to lots of socialising needs to be factored in. The bed and bedding were very comfortable!

It can be quite noisy all day cause you are in a square as you expect to be, so I recommend to bring ear plugs just in case

The room was a bit small but ok for a couple of days sight seeing. It can get a bit noisy for anyone who likes peace and quiet but we didn’t mind and it didn’t go on too late at night.
A lovely comfortable apartment right over the main square. The location couldn’t have been better for access to bars and restaurants.

I couldn't find a kettle so unable to make any tea. The space between the bed and bathroom is a little small but not a problem for 1-2 nights.

This is for information for other travellers. The reception is situated about 5 minutes walk away from the Pension and only opens at midday. So if you arrive before this time, you will have to sit in Plaza Nueva with your luggage or store it in a luggage store nearby. Suggest you ask the receptionist to walk you to the Pension, as it can be tricky to locate. Or ask the receptionist to give you the name of the cafe next door to the Pension.
Located in the heart of the old quarter. So very easy to meander through the streets, filled with bars, cafes and shops. It is a 25 minute walk to the Guggenheim, but I knew this when I booked. I enjoy walking. You could take the bus if you wanted to.

It's a contactless check in, so make sure you have all details handy or printed out. Though the office is a short walk away. Would be nice if there was a little bar fridge in the room to store drinks.
Great location, and very quiet too for where it is. Very clean and comfortable bed too.

Great experience staying here. Very good communication and a perfect location in the heart of the Old Town for exploring there and the rest of the city. Really comfortable bed in a clean and quiet room with good AC. Grateful for the offer of looking after our bags after check out too. Happily go back.

Fabulous location. It's in the centre in the busy Square, but very quite in the room. Very clean and had everything we needed. Staff were helpful .

I was very happy with everything, including the check-in procedure. Room was great. Very comfortable.
Beautiful accommodation. Loved that I had a coffee machine in the room. The host was excellent with communication. That is really a defining characteristic for places that I thoroughly enjoy.

The room was good and clean, everything comfortable. I just don’t really like contactless hotels. No one to ask questions or with help. I have traveled enough to know how to use WhatsApp, but many Americans don’t use it and don’t have phone service so it can be a hassle.
It could not be in a better location. Plaza Nuevo is amazing. The Guggenheim is within walking distance and there are metro stations nearby.
