How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Exactly how a Posada should be run. Super friendly staff, immaculately clean, quiet at night, located on the elegant edges of this picturesque town with many excellent restaurants. We only stayed a night as we were passing by on our journey, but will return to use Posada Araceli as a base to explore this amazing area. Highly recommended..

The staff are friendly, although we only speak a little bit Spanish, they are very helpful. The room is very spacious, clean and nice. Located very close to the city centre of Santillana del Mar. Love it!

Nothing to do with property but road works were certainly making it more difficult to access properties on this side of village. Hard on owners trying to make a living.
Very comfortable bed. Very clean especially bathroom. Helpful staff. Location great for spending time in Santillana and visiting Caves of Altimira.

Everything was just lovely
The accommodation was beautiful and everything was exactly as we expected from description and photographs. This family run posada is a gem because it is just outside of the main village but close enough to walk. Great car parking facilities too! Having a kettle and fridge in the room was very good 👍 lovely hosts who speak only a little English , we wish we spoke more Spanish.

There was nothing to complain about it.
The guesthouse is close to everything. The service is excellent, with great kindness and attention. My room was very spacious and had all the resources to facilitate my well-being. The breakfast provided contains what is necessary and may have gluten-free options if this is indicated at the reception. Parking is very safe.

Wow, wow, wow. What an atmosphere this venue has! All the details fit very well. You feel back in the 19th century but all very comfortable. Nice landlord and very good staff. Breakfast was excellent. We even booked one night longer than we planned!

Wonderful staff, comfortable beds, great bathroom, attractive room and a lovely place to sit outside in the front of the hotel. The grounds were beautiful with flowers, etc. Parking was right there and easy to access.

Everything was great
Excellent location, friendly check in and staff. Room was exceptional. The whole house was decorated to extremely high standard. Lovely continental breakfast. Would recommend and love to visit again.

The breakfast was a bit meagre for the price, but this is a minor gripe.
The bathroom and bathtub were a nice surprise. It was quiet too. Staff were really friendly and accommodating when I checked in very late at night. This was a very pleasant surprise given how affordable the rates were. Highly recommended.

My room was the budget attic. It was adorable. I wanted to just stay in bed. It felt like your in a doll house. The people who run the place are delightful. Value for money. Would definitely go again.

A fan could be a bonus on humid hot days
There is a lot of commitment from the management and staff team which reflects in everything down to the last detail. Also safe on site parking
