Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

PortugalWe had a suite room that can sleep 4. We chose this as it's all on one level. The rain forest shower was excellent but there's no door into the stall so no privacy. Beware aware if sharing! Very simple breakfast. We've stayed before in the duplex rooms with beds upstairs, have a small bathroom downstairs with a door. Showers are in the bath.
Very comfortable large double bed and sofa area. Excellent WiFi. No Aircon but have a fan which was fine. Room price includes breakfast and dinner, so good value. Convenient free parking.

LatviaThe layout of the room was quite unusual: the double bed was located by the ceiling above the bathroom, and you have to climb the stairs to get there. In addition, it seemed unusual and also quite dangerous that the bed is not fenced off in any way, and a sleepy person, possibly getting out of bed on the wrong side - could also fall from a height of several meters...
Everything was fine! An interesting experience of staying in a place that once, as I understand, was a monastery.

United KingdomNoisy plumbing and a dripping gutter were minor irritations and, although the beds were in keeping with the tone of the posada, we struggled to sleep comfortably.
Atmospheric, unusual and history-laden accommodation. Good location for seeing the centre of Aguilar and local attractions; also handy for the A67 motorway. The half-board option worked well although the evening meal was rather ordinary. However, the waiter, who was serving, preparing and clearing tables as well as staffing the cafeteria was a real credit.

United KingdomThe room was a joke. At first we thought it was really good but it turned out to be impractical. The bathroom was ridiculously small. The room had tight, steep stairs up to the sleeping area.
The location beside the old monestery / church was great.

United KingdomHaving to climb stairs to get to the beds is totally unacceptable for elderly or infirm guests. There was no warning on the website. The room had a threadbare carpet. The shower had mould and the shower itself was faulty. Generally very poor.

United KingdomThe stairs in the duplex require you to be very sure footed and I could not see any warnings on the booking site by the owners that they could be an issue for the elderly or infirm. I also found the beds a little uncomfortable. You tended to roll away from the middle, which for me is an unusual experience as I am very heavy.
The staff were very helpful when I explained my wife was unable to manage the very precarious stairs to the mezanine floor. They provided an alternate room with an additional bed on the lower floor.

United KingdomI booked a duplex garden view room. What I got was a courtyard room with no outlook at all. The tiny window was frosted glass, so I could not see anything. The room was dark, and the bathroom was a wet room for disabled people. Once you'd used the shower, the entire floor was wet, and going toilet in the night meant you got wet feet.
Superb location in a lovely typical Spanish town with Castle. But.......

United KingdomAwful customer service. The concierge made us feel like we were an unwelcome inconvenience to them and the hotel. When our family of four checked in the staff confirmed that the restaurant was open and serving food but they were reluctant to offer us a table or anything to eat. Instead we had to spend an hour driving round town only to discover that there was nowhere open or serving food so we returned to the hotel and went to bed without supper. Contrary to the description of the 'suite' it does not have "1 living room, 1 separate bedroom and 1 bathroom with a shower". It is simply a room with a curtain across the middle, a shower cubicle by the door and a lower-than-normal toilet in a cupboard in the corner. Breakfast was unremarkable buffet fare with the exception of the coffee which was dreadful. It's also worth noting that car parking is in an unlit dirt lot immediately outside the walls (but out of sight of) the hotel which is itself on the edge of town so, not very secure.
Not much to like.

JerseyRooms are tiny and uncomfortable also really hot. The restaurant was poor, dark, dingy, staff that were miserable and unhelpful and really poor food! The staff as a whole were unhelpful and uninterested including the manageress and when we reported a bad smell coming from our shower we were told to just put a wet towel over the drain!
