How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

Cold on arrival, not pre-heated in winter. Would have been good if 7kW T2 chargers were active & available for proper overnight charge.
Excellent accommodation with EV chargers outside. Friendly staff.

Very conveniently situated off the motorway and convenient for the ferry at Santander. Very friendly and efficient welcome and excellent on-site facilities. Would definitely book again.

Could have done with a chair in the room.
Convenient location just off the motorway only 20 minutes from the ferry landing at santander. Nice cafe. Large room. Helpful reception. Would definitely use again.

Not a dislike but worth knowing: The breakfast is not in the hotel, we're given a voucher to have it in the petrol station café but, in general is quite good.
The check-in process was one of the best I ever had. The host very kindly walked me to the room and through all the details I needed for my stay. The room was very comfortable and even though the Hotel is on a petrol station, it was very quiet.

There is no restaurant on site (but there is a reasonable coffee shop … all hours). There are many nice restaurants within 5 minutes drive though.
it was very convenient for the Santander ferry the next day. Also the Tesla superchargers were literally outside the bedroom window which was why we chose it in the first place.

Beds a bit narrow for me and my son, we are both tall and the bed was a bit small.

Pleasant welcome. Good simple croissant and coffee nextdoor in cafe excellent. Can eat there all day until eleven pm. Very good access from motorway. Don't be put off if it looks closed. Just go to petrol station to check in.

Guy on reception was miserable and rude. Wasn't given WIFI code. Restaurant was at the petrol station other side of car park. Woman in Restaurant was hostile and rude.
Close to Santander port. Just off the motorway.

Very basic accommodation. More a motel than a hotel. No internal dining facilities. Food was available at a petrol station nearby. We travelled at a low period and the car park was fairly empty indicating low occupation. The motel is only 100m from a busy motorway. We asked for a room on the opposite side of the building and were told that none were available. When dusk fell it became apparent by the lights from windows that the motel was placing all guests on the motorway side as the “quiet “ side was completely dark. I suspect that someone was not being frank. We were assured that we were in a certain quiet room. It could not have been further from the truth. All night long the rumble of heavy goods vehicles could be heard.
It was directly on our route and the service area hosted Tesla Superchargers to recharge our car during BBC a long journey.

The check-in lady went out of her way to be rude even though we attempted to converse in Spanish - totally unnecessary

No spare pillows.
It was next to the petrol station so very easy to find and was quiet with blackout curtains. There was a swimming pool. Very nice room.

Proper communication
When we arrived we were unable to gain access to the Hotel, it appears that they do not staff the reception for long periods of the day. We gained access to the lobby when other guests arrived but because we did not have an access code, we could get no further. We tried telephoning the hotel but were unable to get a reply. We then decided to cancel and rebook nearer to Santander. After about 15 minutes into that journey we received a call back from the Hotel, the receptionist said that they did not have my mobile number, so they were unable to send me the access code. We declined their offer to return as by then we were travelling to our new destination.
