How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Everything was good
Great location in old town. Very comfortable bunks. Good facilities. One of the best stamps on the Camino.

We are a group of six walking the Camino and we enjoyed our stay. Beds were comfortable and clean. The bathrooms were great. Friendly staff. We enjoyed our stay.

The dining room /kitchen was a little small in relation to the amount of people staying there.
Location for the Camino. Also beside a beautiful church square that came alive at night. Supermarket easy to find. Lots of little bars.

kitchen a bit lacking if you wanted to cook. fine for heating up food or just serving onto plates. not close to any of the beaches if you wanted to go to a beach
nice part of the old town. bed area is very clean ,nice. nice sheets, pillows, cube type bunks with curtain. 3 toilet/shower to share with everyone but never a queue. small but comfortable lounge area. kitchen doesn't have much to it- bring microwaveable food. in the middle of old part of town so you can walk to shopping and restaurants.

Only thing that missed was something to cook in the kitchen. There is just the basics like a microwave, coffee and tea.
Felt really welcome in this nice and cosy hostel! The relaxing details in music and decoration where amazing. Good facilities and commun area to hang out.

Fresh, great staff providing the coolest stamp on the entire Camino in wax, perfect location. As a matter of fact Vigo deserves at least one full day two nights and this hostel provides the ideal location for that purpose…next Camino!

All perfect!
Lady in the reception was very nice, polite and helpful. Bed was perfect. It was silent even there were many sleepers. It was clean and shower was nice. Location was perfect.

Nothing.
I was unwell but the staff took great care of me and also offered me another night (but my next Aubergue was booked and paid for already) so instead they gave me my bed until 2pm which really made all the difference as I slept until then. The reception quietly checked on me a few times and were just so kind ensuring I had water or if I needed anything.

Check in was a bit late at 3pm. Unless the doors to the bathroom were closed fully - the smell of toilet permeates into the dorm rooms very easily.
One of the best sleeps and definitely the best shower I had my entire trip (completing the Camino). The location is easy to find and right by the cathedral & nightlife. Shared dormitory but lots of space and secure places to lock up your things. Beds were comfortable. There is a shared kitchen with everything you might need. Nice spa music playing in the bathrooms.

No common area for social but only a small dining area with 3-4 tables
A large room with many beds, mattress was comfy and each bed has own curtain for privacy. Price is a bit expensive

Only thing was that downstairs toilets didn’t have soap nor was the toilet seat fixed to the toilet. Apart from that an amazing stay!

Some beds creak
Location - door entry access code system - close to all public transport systems- staff helpful and friendly- cleanliness - kitchen facilities and to cooking own meal, kettle to boil water for tea. Access to outside dining space. Balcony leading off the dormitory.

The only inconvenience was that the lights automatically turn off in the bathrooms and when you're in the shower the sensor can't see you and the lights kept turning off while I showered.
The location is amazing, right next to the cathedral. It was also easy to check in after hours since they sent me all the codes and instructions. It's a basic hostel often used by pilgrims doing the Camino de Santiago, but I found everything to be correct considering the price. Towel and sheets were included and I liked the curtains around the bed for privacy.
