The room and particularly the shower area smelt strongly of damp. There was no coffee/tea facility, staff were polite but no interaction or information about the area off location available. The pool area was not clean and unusable (the weather wasn’t great but it was important if we had wanted to relax somewhere) we left a day early without a bit of interest why. All in all boring and unpleasant place

The approach, the drive up the hill and the parking are scruffy and pot-holed and the room was cold and basic. The whole experience felt rather unwelcoming and neglected.

An excellent peaceful location with views over the bay and a nice walk into town. Breakfast was nice with a good waitress although having the TV on disturbs the peace and quiet. Most other options around Cadaques are closed in February.

We were appalled when taken to our Standard Double Room to see that the 'Garden View' and 'Mountain View' as advertised simply were not a view at all. Both the window and door from the room to the outside were completely frosted over and covered with bars and thus there was no view at all. It all felt very pokey and unsatisfactory. This was a very clear case of misrepresentation in the hotel's advertising. It felt as tho this was a technique the hotel used to get you to upgrade your room on arrival - ie give the newcomers the worst room in the hotel in the hope that they part with more cash to move. Our suspicions were somewhat confirmed when new guests arrived in the room 12 which we moved from (tho they decided to stay in it). The staff were completely unaccepting of this position and kept repeating that this was the room that had been booked. So, if you are booking the standard double, think very carefully. My recommendation would be simply - don't. Unless you want to be sat in the quasi dark (especially at this time of year when it can be a little cool and rainy). Going back to their booking site the pictures of the standard double are very cunning in that they do not show the window and patio door. They should as they do not tell the full story of this (or these) rooms (i actually think there is only one). Whilst I appreciate the parking charge is advertised, this is a 'right old scam'. The hotel is on a large site and there is no need to charge for parking. This felt as though you were being 'tour-rinsed' especially for this site which benefits hugely from guests having a car due to its location a short drive from Cadaques. However, you are a captive paying audience......

We loved the room that we eventually ended up in (14 - pic 1) which had a terrace onto the upper pool. We were disappointed by how we got to that room, see below. But we had to pay nearly double to move rooms (from outside of room 12 - pics 2,3,4). We liked the space and the peace and quiet of the hotel site. Its also really close to Cadaques which at a quiet time of the year is lovely. It was all very clean and well-looked after, inside and out.

Moldy and smelly room in Cadaques, complete with bugs.

When we arrived our reservation was not on their books (was this a Bookings.com error?) so we were "upgraded" to their "best" suite, which was a dorm room furnished, moldy space, which smelled like the inside of an old washing machine. To make matters worse, there were bugs in the bathroom. We would have liked to enjoy both nights of our booking since the views were awesome and we paid a nonrefundable $170 a night (expensive compared to other, much nicer properties). But because of the stench we cut our stay to 1 night and double paid to stay elsewhere in a cleaner, better smelling space. I would not recommend this hotel to others and am frustrated by the rating Bookings.com assigned to it. I will not trust those ratings again and will do more independent research before I book through them again.

    Beautiful views!

We arrived at 1pm and the check-in was supposed to be at noon. No one was at the desk. We had to walk around town and paid for parking. After emailing them twice, they finally wrote back at 5pm saying they are back. Their reason was “the power went out” because of a storm. It was true; the whole town didn’t have power, but I don’t get why they didn’t bother to communicate that. But that’s not the worst: we checked in, had dinner, and came back at 11:30pm. There was no hot water and the heater wasn’t working. We told the front desk person, and she kept disregarding us and saying she doesn’t speak English. She finally came up to check and realize the water was completely COLD, and said “you should’ve told me these things within five minutes of check-in, not five hours.” So I guess you should expect things to NOT WORK at this hotel. We asked for another room because the hotel was pretty empty. She refused and said it’s the same in every room, and she can’t do anything until the morning after. We said maybe our neighbors had hot water, and she threatened to call the police. We called the police in the end, and then she was like, “okay I’ll have someone fix it in twenty minutes.” But no one came, and we were too exhausted, so we went to bed at 2am, cold. Maybe language was a barrier but one thing for sure: we didn’t have hot water or heat that one night we stayed, AND she threatened to call the cops on us! Terrible, terrible hotel. Don’t stay here.

    Nice building. Cute town.

If you decide to walk into town, be prepared to walk up and down a very long and steep driveway and in wintertime it’s a pretty cold place. the bathroom was odd. you had to step into the shower to open and close the door to the toilet.

The whole place appeared a little neglected. We booked a superior room but in order to stay an extra night we were ‘upgraded’ to a room with a terrace. It was small, cold, stark and whilst it did have an amazing view the terrace wasn’t much use to us in December! We asked for our original room back in the main house which was so much nicer (but we had to argue with the very bossy receptionist to do so!) The staff were generally unfriendly and unwelcoming. Could do much better!

Amazing beautiful views and a great location just 15 mins walk to the centre (beware the steep hill on return!)

Feel totally taken advantage of by this hotel

I start by admitting that I made a mistake while booking and booked 2 persons instead of 4 (we were traveling with our 6 & 8 year olds). When we arrived I told them of my mistake, and asked if we could pay extra for the children and we were willing sleep anywhere, even the floor. They said it was impossible because the room that we had booked was only for two people and could not accommodate four, even two children. They then offered to put two of us, in another room. Which obviously we had to pay. We ended up paying over €430 more for one extra room. which was super crappy., down a hill, with no internet. When we arrived in the room that we had originally booked, (and which we had been told could not accommodate 4 people) it turned out to be a two room apartment basically, with a sofa bed in the living room area. We feel that we were completely taken advantage of, because all four of us could have easily slept there. We paid over €1000, an expensive 2 day stay! Also would like to recommend some customer service training to a lady by the name of Coral. She is extremely rude. Naya and Jose tried their beat to make up for making us pay so much money and comped the breakfasts.

The views are amazing. Breakfast was great.
