Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

United StatesWhen taking a shower that night, we noticed that day that there were only two set of towels. We didn’t care much since kids use small towels. Additionally, no extra blankets for the sofa bed were provided so I had to yield mine. When doing check out, we were informed that we need to cover an extra charge of 40 euros because we originally didn’t pay for the kids. I was surprised because when booked this room it looked I didn’t have an option for including the two kids so I assumed the booking was for the adults. The listing of this student facility contradicts itself saying that, under “Children & Beds/Child policies: Children of all ages are welcome. Children 3 and above are considered adults at this property”. However, it also says “Max capacity 4 guests max, with a maximum of 3 adults”. The only way this room can comply with being named “Comfort Family Studio (2 Adults + 2 Children)” is to host two adults and a kid that is less than three years old or two adults with a kid older than three years old and a kid younger than three years old. It is really confusing to understand the “Comfort Family Studio (2 Adults + 2 Children)” room CANNOT really host a family with two kids over 3 years old like we were… While doing a review of the hotel bill I noticed also that I was not charged with the compulsory Hostel Association integrated in the International Youth Hostel Federation (IYHF) of if they charged me I was not given any membership at all. The hotel informed us before our stay that a YHA membership can also be purchased onsite with a reduced price (4€) but I think they (conveniently) omitted to say that charge is (maybe) per night. I think the whole thing was weird after finding that online, this membership cost around $18 per year in the US or $4 daily. Although the stay at the hotel was ok for the original price, I don’t like these confusing wording when booking, either not to be notified on time of extra charges before check-out.
This room was called “Comfort Family Studio (2 Adults + 2 Children)”. According to what it says at Booking.com “this studio features 2 single beds, private bathroom, living space with a sofa bed for 2 children”. We were a family of 4, with two adults and two kids age 6 and 10. We showed up to check in Sunday, one hour earlier at 1pm. Our room was not ready which we could understand. We really wanted to drop the luggage and go eat out. I said to them that if I have the bed sheets I can pull out the sofa bed myself when putting kids to bed. They allowed us to get the room earlier.

HungaryFrom the aircondition water was dropping and also through the ceiling. I told that to the recepcionist he told me to put a bucket under it. It was very loud during weekends. Always partying, it was IMPOSSIBLE to sleep. I paid for the accomodation when we arrived. They told me that the price includes one cleaning service under out stay. I requested this cleaning 3 TIMES from the receptjonist and recieved NO CLEANING. We were using the same dirty towels from on and on. We didn’t even get new toilet paper even tough I asked for it…. So to summarize I don’t really understand why I payed for the cleaning when we recieved NO cleaning at all. Very disappointing.

United KingdomThe only negative is you are at least a 30/40 minute walk away from the old town which is where majority of the main attractions are. However, it isn’t far from the metro and it’s a nice walk.
The facilities were really good, the job, fridge, microwave all worked great. Really good aircon and a nice en suite. The breakfast was amazing, had lots of different options, was a nice bonus as it came with the price.
