I was a bit unsure if I would get the text message regarding self check in. It would be helpful if I was informed earlier.

Self check in was very easy with a detailed text instruction. Later I met the staff at reception and she was friendly and professional. I attended an event in El Escorial and I could walk there in 5 minutes. The room is more spacious than those in many 4 stars hotels.

Perfect location, heated floors were really nice, the shower was perfect and big and most of all it was very quite to rest well.

Parking near the hotel was very challenging due to narrow roads. It could include more amenities in the room.

Modern set up, clean, comfortable bed and furniture, great service. Breakfast was satisfying. The staff was very nice as well.

We had one of the small suites and it had very little storage space for clothes--enough if you were there for a weekend getaway, but well shy of what we would have liked for a six night stay. Four hangars each wasn't much and there was very little drawer/shelf space that wasn't already taken up with the safe, an extra bed covering, and dishes.

The location was very close to the monastery and to the bus station so sightseeing in the area was pretty easy to do.

The lady who runs the hotel is very kind and extremely helpful. Nothing is too much. The view ftom our suite on floor 4 was fabulous.

We loved San Lorenzo and the San Lorenzo Suites! What a lovely town with tree lined streets and a delightful piazza to sit and watch the world go by. The apartment was spotless and very comfortable, big bed, nice shower, well equipped kitchen, fantastic view from the balcony. The receptionist put a load of washing through for us and showed me a laundromat where I could dry it. The El Escorial was within walking distance and well worth visiting. We really enjoyed our stay.

I understand that AC may be a bit too much to ask for in Spain, but it would've been nice to have a ceiling fan, or even just a portable one, to help cool things down and drown out the sound of people talking and laughing well after midnight somewhere outside. Plus, with the reception only being open from 8:00am to 2:00pm (although reachable by phone outside those hours), that makes for a very limited timeframe to address issues related to the stay or to make arrangements for the check-out. In my case, I requested a taxi to pick me up and take me to the nearby train station at 5:30am on the Saturday that I was leaving, which the receptionist noted in her book. But when the time came, I waited outside for 20 minutes with no taxi in sight or sound. (There were none waiting at the nearby taxi stand a couple of blocks down, and there was no answer from either of the phone numbers under the sign, so I ended up having to haul my luggage and walk down to the train station myself. But that's another story.)

I was in San Lorenzo de El Escorial to attend a week-long seminar and ended up opting to stay here instead of at the hotel that was being offered as part of the package deal, because I kind of fell in love with the place. I'm pretty sure I made the right decision: The relatively spacious, well-apportioned suite definitely made for a much more comfortable stay than some of the tiny Spanish rooms where I've spent nights in the past (not to mention what it probably would've been like at the other hotel).
