Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe food is better than last year, but I still think there could be more choice, particularly around seafood/fish. I think the Oceania restaurant needs updating, the ambience is not great (very bright lighting, not atmospheric) and the menu is identical to last year. I respect that there is a lot of choice in the World Cafe, this is fine for lunch but once again, the atmosphere isn't ideal for evening dining. Very bright lighting and a fast food Cafe feel, not to everybody's taste.
This was our second visit, a lot of the same staff (lovely people), very comfortable accommodation (Junior Suite). We chose preferred club, the pool area is lovely and less windy than the main pool. Really friendly guests, nice food at the pool bar and once again, great service. Special mention deserved for Ruben, the waiter in Portofino, who could easily work in a 5 star london hotel :-) Also Macarena, excellent customer service, thank you.

ItalyThe structure should improve the staff preparation. We visited the hotel on March and my overall impression is that they were already overwhelmed by the number of guests ( ques for breakfast and also for being served in the restaurant, with the hotel half full). Most of the staff does not speak or understand English. They managed badly the upgraded guests ( one of our rooms did not have upgrade and they just forbid access to the "upgraded" beach and restaurants instead of explaining we could have bought an upgrade for our colleague as well ( we found out about this option on our last day) .. The pool area is poorly maintained for a luxury hotel ( old/broken sunbeds).
Beautiful hotel, a great location, and generally good value for money. The rooms are big and very comfortable and the venue has different pool setups and also a small private beach. The Spa is also nice, (a bit overpriced for the offered treatments but enjoyable). I would have rated 9 the hotel if it weren't for the hotel staff and internal organisation.

United KingdomFriendly Staff, I had gold one of the staff that my birthday was coming up and they surprised me with birthday cake and card. Which was so sweet. All staff made sure I was fine and made sure my stay was as comfortable as possible. Had an all inclusive stay. Food and drinks were 10/10. Hotel views were amazing. Plenty of places to relax, go for swim etc.

United KingdomPrices have increased a lot since it was taken over by Hyatt , but facilities haven’t changed to justify this . Also we felt the breakfast was not as good as it used to be when run as the Hesperia !We stayed in a swim up suite and the price for the room had doubled from our last stay , however the room was exactly the same ( it had been painted ! ) apart from the shallow pool at the front rather than grass .
Great that it’s adult only and lovely staff

United KingdomFood quality was not great, very bland and lacking flavour, vanity pack e.g. cotton wool only provided on day 1 and not topped up, mini bar not topped up, someone also thought it funny to knock on doors at 12am at night and wake people up. Decor is tried and needs an update and paint, not 5 star standard
Location, 20 mins from the airport, gorgeous sea views, very comfy beds, helpful and attentive staff, super evening entertainment

SloveniaHotel is some 10 min drive with Taxi from the town. It would be better if it would be closer. There was only one elevator working. And the doors on the room did not close well but room was beautiful with nice view.
Breakfast is very good, a lot of choices. Pools could be bigger but SPA is big and massages are very good. Alsi luch and diner options are good, something for everybody. They have entertainment every nicht untill 23.00 so you can also dance.

The warmest welcome when we arrived, with Cava. Truly fabulous staff, always friendly and attentive. Our stay was one week Ultimate Luxury (their term for all inclusive). The 3 younger adults paid £60 each for access to the spa for 4 days, they found it excellent. Everything else was covered. Breakfast - ample choice, to suit all our tastes (5 of us). Very relaxed. Cava available every morning ! Lunch - again, ample choice, also varied from day to day, relaxed. Dinner - a la carte every night, high quality, we enjoyed many beef and pork steaks cooked to perfection, I would also mention beef and octopus carpaccio starters (in different restaurants). The inclusive wines were good. Never difficult to get a table. Very comfortable room (standard double, but we had a partial sea view), great shower with torrent of water at constant temperature. Lovely gardens, making good use of the gradient down to the sea. Thank you for a memorable holiday, we hope to return !

United KingdomGood choices have not changed in 3 years. Entertainment was lacking in evening and below average. Spa Staff were quite rude in general when booking in! Like it was too much trouble! Sports bar wasn’t open at all due to sales promotion going on. Pool was cold, no heating.
3rd time we’ve been, adult only suited us. Everything was clean and tidy

United KingdomConstructive Feedback - The lifts never seemed to be working properly; one lift was broken the entire week, and the only other lift didn’t seem to work from the ground floor (pool/restaurant level); you’d assume these would be quick fixes - Buffet breakfast was lacking variety - for example, plenty of cured meats, but no fish - not even smoked salmon - Buffet breakfast and dinner service was slow - always had to find someone to get a coffee or a drink. Lovely team, but seemed short staffed - Service in the Piano Lounge - lovely team, but they were always short staffed by at least 2 people, every single night - so waiting for a drink took a while - Bluewater Grill - the only restaurant we didn’t like - service was extremely slow and clunky, and the quality of food was not good compared to all other restaurants - we adore prawns, and both the prawn starter and especially the prawn main, were poor - Unlimited Vacation Club sales - definitely worth the chat if you’re interested, however they can be a little pushy and show their disappointment if you turn it down which makes you feel strangely guilty for not buying into it Overall, a solid 8.5/10 from us
Just returned from a pretty perfect 7 night stay at Secrets Lanzarote! My partner and I are big fans of Secrets, having stayed at the Secrets Akumol Riviera Cancun, so we had high, albeit realistic, hopes! For us there were plenty of positives, and only a few negatives, so here we go: Positives - The hotel is really well maintained and inviting - a grand entrance area, and a gorgeous outdoor area with several pools and plenty of sunbeds - Great location situated a short walk away from the marina, with a paved footpath leading there directly from the hotel - Plenty of car parking if you do plan on hiring a car (which we did on days 5 to 7, and dropped the car off at the airport ahead of our flight home) - If you love Secrets Resorts like we do, this definitely does have the Secrets vibe and feel going on which is so important - Oceana - the food here was outstanding and definitely on the same level as what we experienced at Secrets Akumal Riviera Cancun. Great atmosphere, and a great team including Maritza who looked after us so well! - Similarly, Portofino was a real highlight - excellent food and great service from Patxy, Melania and Carla who made us feel so welcome and were always super friendly and nice - Gohan Sushi - we started here pretty much every night with a plate of gorgeous fresh sashimi. Christian the Chef was the best sushi chef - friendly and so creative, making the most delicious sushi and sashimi. Sandra on the bar was always friendly and made great cocktails! - Coco Cafe - great for our daily coffee fix - nice cakes too! Edurne and Ricardo were fantastic! Always friendly and made us enjoy our visits each day! - The activities - we tried the sushi making, shooting and cocktail masterclasses (mojito and pina colada). Magdalena was a fantastic trainer and we enjoyed every activity with her and her colleague! - The spa - I had one of the best massages ever!

ItalyThe structure has to work much harder in staff training, as the staff does not match even by far 5-star service. - If you are not Spanish speaker is difficult to get around as 90% of the staff does not speak other language ( restaurants and bars included, we had to use gestures to explain that a knife is missing from the table, for example) - very slow and disorganised service at the seafood restaurant ( we did not receive water or wine or anything for 45 minutes). -We ordered room service that NEVER arrived and all we got the next day from the reception was.."aaa..sorry". - We have been refused access at breakfast in the preferred area as one of our colleagues did not have a preferred room ( 4 people PREFERED and 1 no). They asked us to live without offering any alternative ( in the last day the waitress from the bar explained that we could pay an extra fee or our colleague to upgrade to Preffered). - The reception staff arrived 20 minutes after the breakfast began while the guests were wandering around taking cluttery from other tables, moving around chairs etc ( we only went one time at the beginning of breakfast, so maybe this was a singular happening). - Also the breakfast staff ( an elderly gentleman) made sure to make a loud scene in front of the other guests that "we cannot sit 5 people at a table at 4, house policy (while in the background tourists wandered from table to table to find missing cluttery, searching for a coffee machine that actually worked, etc) :) - The cleaning maid ( a man) entered the room without knocking while we were in bed.. - The sunbeds by the pool are mostly broken or very old. As a conclusion, we found a beautiful hotel that deserves 9 with a staff that deserve 6. If in March the staff cannot handle it with the hotel not 100% occupied, I imagine in summertime would be a complete disaster.
The hotel is beautifully situated on the coast of Puerto Calero, a few minutes walk to a small marina. The rooms are big, clean and comfortable (we had a suite) and the structure has a small beach and a few pools with bar service. A big appreciation to the bar waiter who served us everyday drinks at the beach, the only kind and professional staff I have seen during our stay. Overall it's a pleasant stay.
