Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomFabulous accommodation in a wonderfully quiet location on the edge of the village. The walking from the door is great and the weather early April was perfect. Temperature drops in the evenings but there is a lovely stove so the accomodation is really snug. Owners are lovely and really helpful. Would highly recommend.

United KingdomNothing, everything was excellent
The property was on the edge above the village which meant it was quite and peaceful and had a beauiful view down the valley. The owners were really friendly and helpful. The pool was refreshing and all in all we had an excellent stay.

United KingdomKitchen crockery a little thin on the ground, although plenty for 2 might be a stretch for 4. Not much room in the property for suitcases as downstairs bedroom is quite small (we did not have access to upstairs bedroom as we booked for 2 people).
Lovely property in an exceptional location with great views. Good facilities including a BBQ if you want. Swimming pool was clean and well maintained. The hosts were very friendly and approachable and live just upstairs.

United KingdomThe only thing stopping us giving 10/10 is that the downstairs bathroom has a very small sink, making it difficult to do much more than brush your teeth in it. Thankfully there is a bigger and better upstairs bathroom, but if you are using both bedrooms then you might be fighting over the bathroom! The property is great for a couple, perhaps with 1 child, but 2 couples might find it a bit small.
Los Castanos is a great property in a beautiful location, with friendly and helpful hosts. If you like natural beauty and peacefulness, then this is the perfect accommodation for you! It was lovely to be able to sit by the pool and hear the birds singing and the bells of the local sheep herds, and pretty much nothing else :-) The property is located about 1/2 a mile from the centre of the village, so it's less than a 10 minute walk or a very short drive to the supermarket or local restaurants. You can also do plenty of wonderful walks directly from the property. The accommodation was in excellent condition as it has been recently renovated and decorated to a high standard, and has plenty of charm. The kitchen has excellent appliances and plenty of crockery/cutlery to use so you can easily do some self-catering as well. There is also a washing machine and bbq available for use.

SpainIf you are vegetarian, vegan or like brown bread, plan to self cater in part. The village of Capileira has tasty tomatoes and bell peppers in this regard but mainly caters to traditional Spanish tastes. Having said this the hosts went out of their way to make sure we could find the best on offer in the village.
The location and space is stunning for two people, it's warm and cozy, well appointed with homely touches and scrupulously clean. I understand there's another bedroom and bathroom if your party is larger but having called to ask about this in advance we were offered the extra space and chose to keep the price booking.com displays when you select two people during reservation. The hosts were friendly, speak Irish / English, Spanish and German between them (maybe more), and were knowledgeable and helpful while respecting our privacy. In terms of location, if you want to explore a rural Spanish village and disconnect the middle of town is a stroll away (7 minutes to the church in the middle of the village) while the property location is quiet and uninterrupted. For hikers looking for traditional Andalusian scenes beautiful countryside with both rural and mountain routes are available although steep slopes are a feature of the location returning handsomely in terms of landscape vistas and photography. We hope to return soon to repeat and recommend an unforgettable stay in Capileira.

NetherlandsGraham and Barbara sent us 2 days prior to check in instructions on how to get to the house and Graham met us personally for check in. He was very welcoming and super accommodating! We were allowed to do a wash using their own washing machine. The house offers a lot of privacy, is quiet (I didn't have to use my earplugs for sleeping at night!) with a beautiful interior. The biggest plus is that it's a great base for hikes in the area! We didn't use the car once. Bonus: nothing beats snuggling on the couch with a nice movie (there is Netflix and Disney+) after a very long hiking day. Would definitely recommend and we will come back to stay longer. Thanks a lot Graham and Barbara!

United KingdomNothing in particular
Though there were no reviews in Booking, my partner and couple of friends decided to spend a few nights in Philippa's place. We found ourselves amazed by it. Walking distance to Capileira, it's a peaceful appartment where we swiched off from any noise. From the appartment, there's a breathtaking view of the valley incluiding Veleta peak. Apparently we were the first guests that booked this appartment (that's way to reviews), Philippa spoilt us with her kindness and some goodies (chocolate, wine, fresh flowers...). Kitchen is fully equipped (vitro, owen, toaster...) The house is a well restored building made by stone and wood and it's tastefully decorated...we couldn't ask for more. Personally I wish I could stay longer.

United KingdomThe pool wasn't for our sole use which, we would have preferred and I did ask before we went if it was for our sole use and was assured it was. The sink in the bathroom is a tiny cloakroom sink, despite there being enough room for a proper one. It was not suitable for a main bathroom. The oven was not good with no shelves. The settee was completely worn out, very narrow and uncomfortable. There was not enough crockery, glassware or cutlery. The cutlery there was not that useful. The chest of drawers in the bedroom was dangerous, with narrow drawers that easily fell out. I was in fear of a broken foot.
Beautiful location in the Sierra Nevada mountains. Capiliera was lovely. The house is nice and rustic but it didn't all work. The pool was fantastic but not private. Really comfortable bed. The general ambience of the place was lovely let down by the negatives below.
