Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

RomaniaOk, there's no other way to say this: this villa was perfect for our holiday in Lanzarote. It is a family business, set in a beautiful village, where the paved road ends, overlooking a vista of desert and sea. It is the quietest place we have ever stayed, and it really helped us recharge our batteries - morning or night - you can only hear the wind and the birds around. The hosts are amazing - welcoming, accommodating, with great local recommendations for hiking, visits, restaurants - what more could you want? The breakfast is amazing, served with local ingredients and fruit. The rooms are spotless clean (and I mean spotless), being cleaned every single day with great care and attention.

United KingdomThere was nothing to dislike.
Away from the tourist resorts, you are welcomed to this villa on the edge of open countryside with views of volcanoes. Paula and Stefano give personal friendly attention but you are left to relax and enjoy the whole house and large terrace as you like. You will need a car for which there is plenty parking but the location gives easy access to all parts of the island.

FranceThere are not real weak points to mention. Our room was a bit cold, but this is normal since we were at Villa El Jable at the end of January.
This bed and breakfast enjoys an excellent location. It is located in a small village bordering cultivated fields. The view sweeps over volcanoes and the sea. While being in a quiet place, the location is perfect for driving to all sites of interest north and south of the island. The owners are very welcoming and helpful. Excellent breakfast.

PolandThe breakfast was excellent but became slightly monotonous after a week of the same thing.
We had a wonderful stay at Villa el Jable. We were treated to stunning ocean views on one side and the volcanoes on the other. The cozy patio was a great place to relax and watch the pigeons as they flew in and out. There was also an orange tree from which we could get fresh juice. The host was incredibly helpful, gave us plenty of advice, and even lent us her guidebook. Highly recommend Villa el Jable!

GermanyI had a lovely, quiet time close to Famara beach which i was able to see from my window. The room had a great size, everything was clean and got cleaned every day and I liked the bed a lot :) Paola welcomed me really kind and friendly so i immediately felt comfortable. Our communication before went nice and helpful and having little chats inbetween was cheerful as well. I liked the original style, our own, cozy common area and making use of a fridge when we needed to put things in there. I liked the little town Muñique and the short distance to the beach, Teguise or even Arrecife. I totally recommend this nice hotel and would come back! I wish Paola and her family all the best.

FranceNothing, just need to be aware that house is a tad isolated. Recommend renting a car, or if you feeling adventurous a bike - worth the views :).
We stayed with Paola and Stefano for five days. They were both very excellent hosts, and we had a wonderful time in their place. The house is calm, and the rooms are tidy and quite spacious. We especially liked their hearty breakfast, an excellent start for a day exploring the island. I'd recommend their place for anyone wanting to explore the island, relatively close to the Timanfaya National Park to the west, about 9 km away from the stunning cliffside beach of Famara, and close to the city of Teguise, the old island-capital. We would be back in a heartbeat!

Russia- It is not possible to pay by cards and the property doesn't inform about that. On the contrary, the booking confirmation there are information that B&B accepts Visa, Mastercard, Maestro but it is not so. As the reason for the card payments rejection Paola (the host) had declared the covid limitations (difficult to believe). - the water heater capacity is not enough to provide hot water for all guests
