Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

SpainMy room was in the new building so it was a bit of a walk from reception with the case.
Fantastic hotel right in the heart of Helsinki. Beautiful old building with a sauna in the tower! Very friendly staff and intriguing artwork displayed throughout. The room was very comfortable and the breakfast spot on. Highly recommended

SwitzerlandThe windows were not allowed to be opened on the top floor which made the room not feel 'fresh'. The explanation was that this was for 'safety reasons'. It would be great if windows could be installed that can open partially so fresh air is able to enter. The staff supported my request to be moved to the ground floor which had windows that could open.
Staff were great, good value for money, well located

EstoniaThe curtains in my room were dirty, overall cleanliness could have been better. Breakfast was somewhat disappointing after reading positive reviews on Booking.com. Not a shortcoming but be prepared for a proper hike through the building - somewhat confusing corridors, a long way from room to the reception etc.
Excellent location (probably the biggest plus for me); sincere, friendly and professional staff; usually dislike hotel bathrooms like this but was very positively surprised by this one! Smart planning.

I am a very light sleeper and in spite of the room facing the street it was very quiet . In the morning I really enjoyed their excellent breakfast with variety of dishes.

GermanyAircon in the rooms is too strong and can't be turned off, while temperature is good the air gets very dry in the cold winter days. Also would be good to have allergy-friendly duvets (no down). Wish the sauna was included. No body lotion or conditioner in the rooms.
Staff is excellent, always friendly and helpful (we stayed 5 nights). Breakfast is absolutely lovely, tasty Finnish treats and good selection. Rooms are quiet from outside noise and location is excellent, close to the shopping area and great restaurants, about 20min walk from the seaside

FinlandThe bedrooms are located in a separate, former apartment building next to the main building - some of the old apartment doors are even still left. The hallways are dated and worn and not very inviting. The key system is also old, and our magnetic keys stopped functioning twice during our two-night stay.
The staff was friendly and the beds were super comfortable! Nice location.

CanadaI would have liked to know that the rooms were quite so small and also that the beautiful old lobby depicted in the photos is only the lobby and part of the buildings. Most of the rooms are in a modern adjacent addition, and there is nothing distinctive about them whatsoever.
The pillows were the best hotel pillows I have ever had. Down filled and not too big and solid. The personnel were fantastic, really helpful. The breakfast was very varied and delicious. Rooms were tiny but clean. The lobby building was intriguing and beautiful.

FinlandWould have hoped for a small fridge in the room as it helps to keep such essentials as babies milk cool should you travel with a family. The room we had was comfortable for the adults travelling however the space was very limited when you have more that two and are with young children
Central location was excellent, and quick access to all the services and amenities. Breakfast was generous however the space was limited to cater for the amount of people. Rooms was clean and beds very comfortable.

MexicoThe room was rather warm during the night and the breakfast buffet could have had some been more varied from a vegetarian / vegan point of view (especially concerning the savoury foods). Finally, the music played during the breakfast buffet was a little too loud and really generic modern pop which just felt wildly out of place in such a lovely old building!!!
We had a quiet room, comfortable bed, and it was nice that breakfast didn't end too early, like in some hotels. The old building was also beautiful to explore and the staff were friendly. The location was also convenient for exploring the city!
