Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

EstoniaThe minibar in the room was almost empty. The kettle in the room could be turned on/off only by inserting/removing the plug from the socket (the button did not work). It can be noisy during the day with the window open due to the fact that the hotel is located near the playground.
The location of the hotel is quite convenient. From the ferry terminal we walked to the hotel for only half an hour, there was no need for transport. The room was very spacious and at the same time comfortable, with two sofas and a large bed. Liked the style in which the room is designed, it had noir vibe. Since the hotel is located almost in the center of the city, there are many cafes, eateries and restaurants very close (I was surprised by the number of sushi bars nearby, apparently it has become very popular). Breakfast at the hotel was good. PS. We noticed that there was an electrical outlet on the ceiling (wonder what it is used for).

LithuaniaWe came from Tallinn by ferry. The price for the night in Helsinki was 2 times higher than we paid in Tallin. Breakfast had low variety.
Good location. Very nice lady in the reception. We came by bicycles so she let us store our bikes in the locked backyard for safety.

United KingdomI had to ask for a kettle and cups as these were not in my room. Also only provided with two coat hangers so I had to ask for more.
I love this rather old fashioned hotel. Good breakfast - plenty of choice for people with allergies too. Comfortable bathroom and bed. Staff helpful and friendly.

Great location and very helpful staff. The room was small, but perfectly adequate for solo traveler. I loved the quirky nature of the hotel - the decor etc. It was really good to be honest. If you like hotel chains, then don't stay here.

United StatesBreakfast. No scrambled eggs or hash browns. This was a bit upsetting but from what they did serve it was nothing less than spectacular. Coffee and bacon was on point with a quality standard. Also their breads were really good.
Location. It is perfectly placed between great museums and the cities center. This location also has nearby parks around and is an easy walk to the beach. Room was comfy and reminded me of staying at my grandparents for a night.

UkraineNothing substantial. I had no problem with ventilation and the weather was not hot. But for those, who might have problems with such things - this building is old and the ventilation is through window and fan (there was one in the room, i did not use it).
The location of this hotel is superb - central and in the old part of the city, but away from main touristic crowds, nearby plenty of shops to buy food, a bit away from the train station - but it`s just a 10-15 minutes walk. The hotel is comfortable. There is a lift, quiet corridors, good breakfast - plenty enough to have hot, cold or fresh variants. I`ve asked for a quiet room and I was given one. The room had everything one need for a good stay (a little kettle would be good, but I`ve booked standard single room for the lowest price, so maybe they have them in other variants).

United StatesThe problems weren't that serious. I'd say there were three: 1. I had was that the mattress on the bed was too soft. I got used to it, but I would have preferred a bed offering more support. 2. The windows didn't all function well. They were large, but old. You could open only one small section of the window in my room (out of two large sections and two small). I had read somewhere that you can ask for a key to open the rest of the window sections (the hotel didn't volunteer this information). But the key didn't work very well, so I still couldn't open the window completely. Still, they provided a small fan. So that, plus my ability to open the two smaller window sections, meant that I had enough cool air circulating (I was there in July). One other problem was with the internet. I couldn't access it, though they told me that other guests didn't have this problem. I assumed that the fault lay with software on my computer. I ended up using my mobile hotspot and tethering connection via my phone, but the resulting connection was very poor. The problem with the internet may well have been caused at my end, so I won't conclude that this was the hotel's problem. But I must add that in subsequent hotels in the region, I had no internet problems.
Everything was fine. Breakfast was just what I expected and wanted. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The room was very clean with good lighting and a big window to let in lots of sunlight. And the location! Couldn't be beat. You could walk to anywhere.

United KingdomWe were visiting Finland in the middle of an unusual heat-wave (temperatures around 30°) and the street-facing rooms were extremely hot. The hotel is a period building with no AC. Staff kindly moved us to a (slightly) cooler room.

PortugalThe facilities need maintenance and better cleaning. On the first night we found a bug in our room, kept it under a glass until the next day, took it to the reception, and the lady at the desk reacted like it was the most normal thing ever. Insane!
Considering the prices per night in Helsinki center, it's definitely a good choice because it is very well located.

FinlandMy room was extremely hot and there wasn’t any airflow whatsoever. There wasn’t even a small table fan in the room on the day that I arrived. On my second day, I saw a small fan in another room and asked if I could also get one, the staff was friendly and they brought one into my room. I wish that I had asked on my first night. I couldn’t sleep on a hot room with no airflow. My room was situated right above the back door where people went smoking. All that smoke came up straight into my room, and due to the extreme heat I couldn’t shut the window. If you can’t tolerate smoking at all like myself, I would recommend that you make sure you won’t stay in a room that is right above the place where people smoke at the inner part of the building.
I enjoyed my stay at this hotel. Hotel Anna has an excellent location within walking distance from the central train station and near beautiful city walks and restaurants. The staff was really friendly and professional, I had a feeling that they take care of me and want to ensure a comfortable stay. I would especially like to thank the hotel for an excellent breakfast! The breakfast was fresh and tasty on a hot summer day - it was obviously organized and maintained professionally and with constant checking!
