Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

FinlandNo option to make tea or coffee in the room. But there is common room on floor where you can get those. Same goes with the fridge. So, not a big problem.
Location, building itself and decorations were great.

FinlandThe breakfast is nice but there is no scrambled egg or bacon. But given that it offers much better value for money than comparable hotels in Lappeenranta, that is not a big problem.
Very good price-value, located in the center of Lappeenranta - generally cheaper than comparable offers (Sokos and Scandic). Our to-go-to hotel when visiting Lappeenranta!

AustraliaMaybe I missed it from the description but the whole place was military themed and in the old army barracks, which was a bit unsettling having breakfast next to landmines, but quite fun in the end, just unexpected.

United KingdomThe playroom was a bit untidy, but that didn’t really bother us.
Hotel Rasmussen felt welcoming and homely. It was clean and roomy. We loved the breakfast. The location was great and it was good to have ample space for (free) parking. If we stayed longer we would have used the playroom upstairs. That was a good added bonus.

FinlandOur room could have been better vacuumed, but otherwise all good :)
We had a family room and it was great for our needs! The playroom was excellent, and the breakfast was 10/10 for a cold breakfast 😊 the coffee was very good which is not always the case! Location was also quite good - easy to reach from the highway and a short walk into town.

AustraliaThe hotel is within easy walking distance of the centre of town and if you want a leg stretch, the fort area is within walking distance. Parking is free but it is more than a bit tricky to get to the hotel, particularly with the current road works being done. Siri (Apple) led us to the address but the road is blocked by permanent bollards. Google Maps was better, getting us inside the barracks area but not to the hotel. We left the car, walked across the barracks to ask for instructions and then returned to get the car. The hotel may benefit from putting a map with clear instructions on their website on how to drive to the hotel and park.
We chose to break our return journey from Juva via Savonlinna at Lapeenranta. We weren’t sure what to expect but liked the look of this hotel, which is part of a former military barracks on the edge of the city. The outside of the hotel has an institutional look to it but the interior has been tastefully decorated and the rooms are very pleasant. Each room is named after a person who was stationed at the barracks and there’s a little bio about them on the desk. Room was a good size with individually controlled air conditioning and, wonder of wonders, a window that opened. Bed was large and linen was pristine. The bathroom is modern but I was surprised that there was shower curtain rather than shower screen, given the pricing of the hotel. Excellent blackout curtains that are needed in summer where there is daylight almost 24hrs a day. The building is solid. Very solid. This means that it’s well soundproofed from outside noise and in the halls. The second floor has a ‘relaxation area’ which is like a common room where there’s a fridge for you to leave cold items, kettle, ice machine, coffee maker tables chairs, a wide screen TV etc. They also have a separate play room for kids. On the third floor is a recreation area with small pool table, air hockey etc. Everything is in perfect condition. Breakfast is in the breakfast room on the ground floor. People have complained that the breakfast is ‘not that great’ but coming from a country where breakfast is *never* included, a breakfast of cereal & bread, cheese & ham, yoghurt & pastries, coffee and juice is a real treat.

FinlandValue for money is okay but not excellent.
The place is a repurpose of an old military base, so the building is very different from what one would expect from a hotel - and for us this was a good thing. It has a strange charm. Everything is simple, but very comfortable. All works well in the room. Super comfortable. Walking distance from the center of Lappeenranta. Easy to get to and free parking available. Friendly staff.

LatviaThe hotel has a very nice playroom for children and a shared kitchen, where you can have tea/coffee or microwave your food at any time. In general the hotel is very family-friendly. Also there is a pizza vending machine at the corner of the hotel, the pizzas are pretty tasty by the way. The interior is very interesting with reference to the historical background.

AustraliaThe WiFi was good in most places but a weak signal in our room (probably due to the thick building walls). The building is one of many heritage buildings in the old military base so it is a bit hard to find the front door on arrival. The bathroom has the dreaded psycho plastic shower curtain that attacks during a shower and the taps take up significant space in the shower so it is either a plastic rap or bruised elbows while showering. The bathroom has no shelf space for toiletries so we had to keep them in the wardrobe which was a bit annoying. Breakfast could be better as it is only a continental breakfast (no hot eggs etc). Would we stay here again if we were in town again? Definitely.
Good sized room, lovely decor acknowledging the building's heritage. Lovely reception staff. The air conditioning was wonderful during a couple of hot days. Parking is plentiful, free and easy to access. Great desk in the room with power points in accessible locations. Very comfortable bed and linen. Lighting is good and accessible. Very quiet location and soundproof room. Easy walk to all the town's best locations, restaurants, harbour and the forts. Good to see heritage buildings being repurposed vs demolition.
