Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

FinlandThis is not a boutique hotel, but a student dormitory. Name is misleading. Hotel services are practically non-existent if you need more than just B&B.
Great location by the lake Ample free parking Spacious room in an old historic building (hospital) Nice staff Reasonably priced Quiet room Fairly good breakfast which could be eaten out on a terrace

FinlandDuring the school term, this is a student house and the room is not something you would expect from a "boutique hotel", although it is marketed as one. The room has a small kitchenette, but without serving and cooking equipment, except a kettle and a fridge. There is no A/C, only a fan. Room got quite warm and we kept the windows open during the night. It was quiet, however be aware that nearby is a Huwila restaurant organising concerts in the garden just 100-200m away. Wifi was not the best in the room.
Old wooden house, that has been a hospital in the early 1900's, has a bit of the old atmosphere left, with its long corridors and 4m high rooms, big windows etc. Really central location, just 5 min walk from the central market, in a park next to the lake, nice view to the city and the castle. Swimming places and a swimming hall in the immediate vicinity. In the room everything worked, the bed was good, lots of storage room for clothes etc. The opera season had ended, so the price was reasonable.

Finlandperfect location and clean and spacious rooms and excellent view. We had a view to the castle. Breakfast could have been better, but we got still our belly’s full of coffee, juices, croissants and Karelian pies. would definitely recommend when staying in Savonlinna.

FranceNothing was negative.
From the moment we arrived to the moment we left this hotel and specifically its staff were truly friendly and went above and beyond to cater to our needs. Even though there was a slight problem with one of the bikes, they very quickly recommended a good and equally affordable place to rent bikes. The breakfast was very good and consistent with this kind of hotel. The room was very spacious and comfortable too. This is by far the best hotel in Savonlinna for many reasons including its wonderful and pleasant location, away from the busy harbour area.

SpainUnfortunately, my stay at this hotel was nothing short of dreadful. The property was marketed as a ‘boutique hotel,’ but this could not be further from the truth. The ambiance was decrepit and creepy, and the hotel overall felt more like a haunted house than a welcoming accommodation. Everything was extremely outdated and seemed as though it hadn’t been refreshed in years. The hotel advertised a kitchen, but there were no utensils to be found, rendering it virtually useless. There were even crumbs left over from previous guests, adding to the overall unclean and unwelcoming environment. Everything was simply horrible and appalling. To add insult to injury, the price for this experience was exorbitant, which felt like adding salt to the wound considering the deceptive advertising.
Nothing at all.

FinlandShabby and unclean. Mold in the shower. Only one bedside table and lamp. What about the other person? Not enough space for all guests in the breakfast room. We sat outside as there were tables there but what if it’s raining? Dust and rubbish in corridor areas.
Calm and quiet.

IsraelThe worst thing was that the room was completely unprepared for the 30C (86F) temperature outside. We could not open the windows to get any air (trying to do so filled the room with dust) and one small fan was just not enough. The furniture is old. There is no elevator and the stairs are not easy to climb.
The reception person waited for us after his hours, much appreciated. The price was not too bad. The location was very good, with view to the lake. The shower worked well.

AustriaThe main problem with our room was that it smelled from mold somewhere in the bathroom which caused an allergic reaction at night. Slept very badly. No Wifi in the room!
I am not sure what a „boutique hotel“ means, this is a (nice) student hostel turned into a summer hotel (originally built as a hospital in the 19 c., with high ceilings and a wooden structure).

BarbadosI have stayed in countless hotels, but this was for me the biggest mismatch ever between expectation and reality. The hotel calls itself a boutique hotel and the price we paid for a room for three was 195 euros. The building itself, the stairway and the grand hallway, these were all fine. But upon entering our room (13), it was like entering another world. The room was small and stuffy, with a retrofitted, dated, worn out, plasticky, and in places broken, bathroom 'unit' inside (felt like a bathroom onboard a ship), on top of which the spare mattress was located! Even stuffier up there! The room juts out of the side of the building so the window looks straight into another room that also juts out, and from this other room a person was looking into our room most of the time. The rolling blinds are in bad condition and don't work well. Since it was very hot we wanted to air through the window, but the hook that keeps the window open was broken so the window kept closing itself (window frames in bad repair too). The other window in our room couldn't be opened at all as there was high furniture in front of it. The breakfast room is tiny, so if the weather hadn't been warm, it would have been a problem. Even now with the garden tables available and staggered breakfast times for the guests (you had to reserve a slot in advance) it was pretty much impossible to keep the safety distance. I don't require fancy hotels, but I do want what I've paid for and what's been advertised. This hotel room doesn't come close to meeting expectations. We were on a four night holiday, each night moving on to a new location, and this was the 'fanciest' and most expensive accommodation we had booked. Huge disappointment! Each one of the three other hotels we stayed at were nicer, better, more true to their description, yet much cheaper than this place.
Good location, short and pleasant walk to city center and Olavinlinna.

FinlandLots of dead flies and dust on windowsills in the breakfast room. Dusty floors in our room and when the staff were clearing the rooms, all used dirty bedsheets were piled on hotel corridor on the seats that i assume are meant for guests sitting on, really disgusting! No air con so if the weather is hot, it’s unbearable.
