“A gorgeous property on the edge of one of prettiest villages in France (according to some surveys!) and in easy walking distance of the Abbey and Caves in Baume-les-Messieurs. The bed was comfortable although the record high temperatures of August meant that it was hot even with the windows/curtains closed and there was an occasional mosquito (hard to avoid in the current climate). The bathroom was well equipped and spacious. In the evening, the beautiful gardens provided plenty of space to relax in the evenings. The host provided a great breakfast each morning, and helped us with travel arrangements (beware if travelling in the area without a car as it is not always easy - or cheap - to find local taxis, particularly in August...). And in addition to Baume-les-Messieurs itself, Chateau-Chalon is a relatively easy hike through the vines.”
