“A wonderful place to stay while in the Ossau Valley region. Perched half way on the hill route to the Col d’Abisque from Laruns in the Pyrenees. Hotel L’Amoulat in Gourette has good sized rooms, the personal and caring hostess, Brigitte, cared for us with anything we needed for the 7 night stay we had there. Breakfasts and dinners were excellent at the restaurant, with Brigitte adjusting the menu for longer staying guests if needed. Rooms were attended to everyday while we were out. There are 12 rooms in three levels; ours had a good sized bathroom with a bath.; water always hot. The bar has everything needed. We drove from here north and south through the Ossau valley and walked all over, stopping in the villages for coffee, lunch and dinner. The scenery is majestic and walking through the countryside on either the walks provided by the tourist centres or by All Trails made it all easy.”
“The chalets are gorgeous and well equipped. We had just an overnight stay but it was wonderful. I would recommend this place to others and look to stay again. We stayed in November, the restaurant is only open Friday and Saturday during this month though the rest of the days they will deliver to your chalet instead. We were there on Friday and ate at the restaurant. The food was sublime, a small menu very well executed. The staff were knowledgeable, explaining the dishes and suggesting wine according to the menu and our tastes, the experience was flawless. Absolutely recommend this place, the view of the mountains was excellent and magical even out of season.”
