“I booked because of its location close to Monet’s house and garden at Giverny (40 min drive). It is a gorgeous old house built by Louis XIV (the Sun King) in the mid 1600s for his mistress Mme Maintenon. The rooms are light and airy containing original antiques, tapestries, and pictures. There is a games room, 2 lounges, dining area, and kitchen plus a heated swimming pool (30c) available for guests so don’t forget your swimming costumes! It is a stunning house in beautiful grounds. Breakfast is available at an additional cost and the owners will order you food from local outlets on request. The owner is very charming and informative about the house and grounds and having been there since the 1980s is not short of a few stories. His son met us upon arrival and ensured we were well catered for.”
