Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe bar was unmanned and therefore unused. It could have been a nice space for a drink rather than just an empty space to walk through.
The staff were always very pleasant and helpful.

United KingdomThe only criticism I would have is that the room my brother had smelt of the kitchen all the time, It wasn't very nice.

United StatesWe needed a room to accommodate three older women traveling together. We were given Room 39, which is up three sets of stairs that are not serviced by the elevator. The last eighteen steps are curved and narrow, and there is absolutely NO RAILING. This was difficult and unsafe for me at age seventy-five. Also, the lighting in the room was quite dim, and not all of the lightbulbs and electrical sockets worked. We certainly needed more electrical outlets and stronger Wi-fi.
The location is terrific, right in the middle of all the old town’s attractions. There is a large and comfortable seating area on the reception level where people can gather to chat. Our room in the top floor was quite chilly, but as soon as we mentioned it, they provided an electric heater that solved the problem.

United KingdomStaffing of the bar area - as it was unmanned, it was unused. It could be a very convivial place to meet if it felt welcoming, especially in poor weather when nobody wants to go out in the rain!
The staff were exceptionally helpful, both at Reception and in the breakfast room.

United KingdomReception staff were lovely but a bit hard to find sometimes. We tried to get a drink in the bar around 9.30/10pm the first two nights of our stay and no one was around to serve us. Rooms were lovely but a little dark - no main light. Main problem was the information given to us last night by the guy on reception. I asked about a taxi to the airport and he told me we could just walk up to the rank and taxis would always be waiting- no need to book. I should have been suspicious as he was going off shift and seemed to want to rush me! Taxi rank was empty and we nearly missed our flight!
Great location, lovely staff especially at breakfast which was lovely and very clean and refilled all the time The hotel is very historic with thick walls but has modern lift facilities etc I would highly recommend this hotel if you want to be in the centre of the old city

United KingdomIt was quite hot at night and opening the window towards morning was not an option, because lots of bins seems to be collected next the hotel. Also the shower was quite dated and the water run into the bathroom floor, because of a broken insulation.
The location was great. Staf very helpful and nice. The room was small, but understandable given the location. I wish the breakfast would have been more French than international. The section of jams was exceptional.

United KingdomThe only issue we had was that we had booked a twin room but on arrival it was a double. To be fair this was resolved quite quickly so did not become a problem.

South AfricaPaper thin walls! We had very noisy neighbors and the streets can be quite noisy - I imagine that might be a problem in high season.

SwitzerlandOur only problem was finding the car park - the road to it has a 'No Entry' sign, but we discovered that it only applies further down the road, you can drive a short way and the car park entrance is then on the left.
Very nice stay overnight, we were driving to Spain, but the roads were blocked and we managed to get off the Motorway just passed Narbonne, So this was an unplanned visit, the hotel is a great location, we had a very quiet room (so, a good night's sleep) and the breakfast was excellent, As it was Valentine's night we had the most wonderful 5 course meal and wines (a different glass of wine served with each course) at Chez Christine next door - a lovely evening, such good service, it was exceptional. So all in all, we really enjoyed our visit. We would love to come back to explore this amazing castle.

SpainI was in room 44 (lovely room) in the garden and it was rather dark at night when I returned to the room. I felt a little insecure momentarily and would perhaps have preferred a room in the main building. Plus during the day there was a hotel worker working in the room next door so I did not feel comfortable sitting at my table outside.
Great location, helpful staff. Lovely furnishings. Excellent breakfast. The waitress at breakfast is very friendly.

Irelandonly thing was the cost of the hotel parking, at 22 euros per day on top of the room price seems a little excessive, as at the end of the week you end up with a nearly 200 euro bill with the city tax included.

United KingdomReally liked the location and the rustic building. We didn't have breakfast but it looked very good. The bar was handy and reasonably priced for a quick round before heading off out to explore. The hotel is literally in the middle of the old town so it's ideal for a short stay. Highly recommend!
