Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomCharming, beautifully restored chateau run by charming, helpful Olivier and Olga. Fabulous, spacious rooms and beautiful grounds. Some of the facilities were a little old-fashioned but this added to the charm. Will definitely return.

GermanyWe visited during a hot spell in the summer and there is no AirCon or fans. Which is generally not a problem but there are no screens in the windows and the mosquitoes were incredibly bothersome. Not maybe the best place for a good night‘s rest in July!
A nice place that has been carefully renovated.

Great location away from the crowd with loads of character inside and out, set in large area of local wine growing country. With plenty of room to exercise our two dogs, nothing was too much trouble for our hosts, especially as we arrived quite late.

United KingdomNothing that we didn't like but if you are the susceptible to insect bites then bring something to keep them away or keep the window shut. We left the window open on the first night which was an invitation to mosquitos to come in and look for us! We didn't make the same mistake on the second night.
Lovely chateau which is just a small walk into town. Not sure what year the property dates from but everything about it was perfect for us as we like to stay in authentic period properties which have a nice ambiance and it deosn't matter if the odd fitting is a bit quirky or a floorboard creeks. The hosts were charming and very helpful and we thoroughly enjoyed our two night stay.

Very authentic experience in the heart of beautiful Fleurie. The owner is a very charming and friendly host. A sophisticated man who is a composer and a musician. We had an absolutely beautiful suite, with a separate bathroom and toilet. The bed was a very comfortable four poster bed with luxury cushions, excellent four a good night sleep. Breakfast was typical French. A perfect croissant, with quality butter and the best baguette! The jams are to die for. We stayed 3 nights in Chateau de la Chapelle and totally enjoyed it. We definitely stay here again next time in Fleurie given its very close proximity to the centre of Fleurie. The château offers also plenty free parking spaces. Always handy! I’m looking forward to stay here again.

SwedenAs expected with an old building it was quite noisy, toilet of neighbours was attached to our bedroom so you could hear the neighbours with their toilet/bathroom rituals. The breakfast was below expectations, only sweet stuff, no choice of what you wanted to eat.
Great location, friendly owner, nice old building with charm, spacious, easy and free parking. Castle experience was fun.

NorwayAs expected from an old building, there's no sound isolation between the rooms and a lot of squeeking sounds when you walk around. We found it quite charming and not really a problem, but it's a good idea to bring earplugs if you're a light sleeper.
Very romantic old chateau managed by a lovely couple. We stayed in the Marie-Antoinette suite, which was enormous and beautifully decorated with antique furniture. Wifi worked well and there's a nice pool outside, but otherwise no modern facilities. The bathroom was nice and clean. Standard French breakfast with baguette, croissants and jam that we could enjoy outside.

NetherlandsThere was no internet available anywhere on the property during our stay.
This was our second stay at this chateau, which is conveniently located for the restaurant in Fleurie, in the heart of Beaujolais. Our room was very spacious. We requested a fan for the room, which was provided.

FranceIn 2022, the establishment refused to accept payment by card. This wasn’t written anywhere during the booking process nor highlighted on my booking.com reservation. I am not sure it is legal to oblige payment method today with no warning. I would not have booked it should I have known this.
It’s a pretty establishment.

FranceThere was not one floorboard in the hotel that did not squeak. Ditto the doors. Child running about in nearby room was not condusive to sleep, to say the least. There was no shower so the bathroom floor got drenched from the hand-held shower head. This is an old hotel furnished to suit the period but there are limits!
Mine host was quite jovial. Breakfast was adequate. NO TV, thank God!
