Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomOur room was poorly lit and we struggled to adjust the room’s temperature, since we were never able to locate the thermostat.
The staff were extremely kind and helpful. They definitely know the city and went out of their way to be helpful. The location of the hotel is a little tricky to reach by car, given that it located on a street with restricted traffic. The breakfast buffet is truly outstanding, as is the dining room.

BelgiumNothing could be better it was amazing 🤩
I loved the way my dog and I were welcomed to the hotel. The staff really went out of their way to make us comfortable and even brought food bowls to my room for my dog. We had a reservation at the restaurant Café Epicerie where the staff and food was amazing! The hotel is right in the centre so super well located and they even helped us with parking the car wish was great. The breakfast was an experience on its own amazing food very unique and again top class staff. Honestly I only write reviews when the stay was excellent and it surpassed all my expectations so wish all of the staff the best as they truest are.

FranceThe access to the hotel was not so clear from the information provided on booking.com but the hotel advised they normally explain the access to the hotel which is in a pedestrianised area.
The staff were very welcoming and the hotel itself is magnificent in the old part of Lyon. A real gem.

CanadaThe first room had a musty smell which they could not get rid of, it was loud and it had no outside window. They said the smell was a problem they had in some of their rooms and cleaning did not get rid of it. Be wary of the room you get, some of them are really not great. They moved us because the smell in the first room was over whelming. But they did this after we stayed in that room for a night - to be fair they would have moved us before but they were full and the only other room they had to offer us was smaller and had a bathtub right next to the bed. Neither the first room or the second room we stayed in had a proper shower. You have to choose between a room with a shower or a room with a bath unless you upgrade. All the fixtures are dated. And in both rooms there were steps into and out of the bathroom. The whole place needs refurbishment to get to more modern standards. The antique feel does not need to mean antique plumbing, heating and electricity.
The antique palace feel of the room was good. The eventual room we stayed in was bright and quiet despite being in a prime tourist area.

IsraelThe toilets are horrible and the smell is disgusting We weren’t informed that the shower and the bath are in the middle of the room, it doesn’t appear in the room description. We wouldn’t take this room if we knew The rooms were within a corridor with almost no light. To open the door with a key (not a card!!) was a challenge without seeing anything. Why not to use modern card instead of heavy key with the name of the hotel and the room number?? Not very secured if you loose your key
Location is good, in the heart of the old city The staff is excellent and trying to help

United StatesThe room was dark and dungeony, smelled old. Tiny shower, moldy around the tile outside the shower. Expensive water bottle and minibar. The other 5 star hotels we stayed at in France supplied at least a couple free water bottles each day and even free snacks and minibar with free soft drinks. $39 for parking was high too.
Best location in the old town. Old historic building. Decent breakfast.
