How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

The WC compartment was small and with a floor rail for the sliding door that was a painful trip hazard.
Traditional hotel in an atmospheric old building right in the heart of Tournus behind the abbey. We had a spacious room which although old fashioned in style was with all mid cons and was warm and comfortable.

Really it is only the hot water system - it is difficult to get a glass of cold water, but a bottle of water is provided, so not a problem really.
Thee location is brilliant and the staff and welcome are great. The hot water is a little dodgy, but it is never a major problem.

Everything was fantastic.
This is an exceptional hotel and one we'll visit again when travelling through France. The reception was friendly and informative. Their restaurant was incredible. Breakfast was one of the very best. The coffee and hot chocolate were memorable. Tournus is beautifully small and the hotel is a mere one minute from the autoroute. Secure parking!

Little short of space in the standard room but wouldn’t stop me staying again.

The beds are a little soft and dipped. We have stayed here many times hoping they might change the mattresses! However the beds are huge and the rooms a good size. If you need to go out with your dog between 11 pm and 7 am you have to find the night porter to let you out/in the back door.
Comfortable, clean and friendly staff. Great breakfast. A lovely place to stay with your dog, great walks by the river. Good place to stop over through France. Great to have private parking, locked at night.

I was surprised there was no restaurant on-site - I had selected 'restaurant' as a parameter in my booking.com search. However, there were pleny of restauarants in town very nearby.
The new owners were very welcoming. The facilties had great old world, if slightly fading, charm.

Breakfast very expensive but you don’t get much and you have a weird choice.
No pressure on the shower. That’s very difficult for talking showers. For the rest perfect.

A delightful hotel in the best French tradition. Really friendly and helpful staff. The neighbouring restaurant, Bouchon de Bougogne served a delicious dinner.

The staff are extremely friendly and helpful, and the hotel welcomes dogs

No problems at all with the property, but visitors to Tournus should note that many of the restaurants and bars are closed on Wednesday!
Beautiful hotel close to the town centre. Very friendly and helpful staff. Free parking on site. Our room was lovely and spacious.

It needs updating and could do with an interior designer to modernise and brighten it all up.
It is a very nice building with a beautiful courtyard at the front and a lovely outside terrace overlooking the Abbey where we had breakfast. It is in a very good position, walking distance to the river and main town square and very quiet. It is very clean and the beds are very comfortable. We loved being met as we arrived by the porter, with a very elaborate porter’s trolley to carry our cases into the hotel.

Found the aircon difficult to adjust – see above.
2nd time we have stayed here – which says it all really. When we reported the broken shower, we were moved into another room with no question. Also very prompt to make the aircon. So 12 out of ten for customer service! Our room was comfortable and well appointed with a fabulous view of the wonderful Romanesque abbey. Breakfast was pretty good but not outstanding, but served to us on a delightful terrace. Dinner at a neighbouring restaurant (attached to hotel?) was REALLY good. Overall a very good stay in a beautiful building with secure parking.

Air-con could be better… other than that, it’s perfect as is. It’s not a modern monstrosity, so enjoy the charm!
