Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AlgeriaThe room was extremely small. You can't even open your luggage comfortably. No trash in the bathroom which can be easily fixed. The bathroom sink had a bad smell and a very bad quality toilet paper. Some of the staff were cool, others not at all. Someone wasn't even getting up their eyes from the phone when we were entering or exiting the hotel. The staff is too pushy for breakfast. Nice to know that it's there but asking for a prepayment in case we decide to take it is too much. One last thing, you might think that if you take a room with a view on the port it will be facing it but no, it's actually on the side.
The hotel's location is amazing. Perfect to visit Marseille in a few days without much effort or extra costs.

New ZealandThe lift is functional but small. There are a few steps to enter the property with no ramp. Unfortunately there was a fire alarm (false) at 1am. A sensor fault meant the alarm could not be turned off for 1hr. There is no gluten free food at the breakfast.
The location is great. The toilet is separate from the shower and sink which is nice. Our rooms had nice little balconies. It is a comfortable nice place to stay. One room had the Harbour view. It is on an angle as the property notes but was still a good outlook.

GermanyThe hotel is aging. What is a bit "annoying" is the "clsoed door policy". Yes this is Marseille. But I like open doors. Access could be conztrolled through a hotel key locked elevator and a staircase with door
I like the place and the location at Vieux Port and directly at the subway station

IrelandOnly 1 tiny pillow person but staff did get a 2nd when we asked. The shower bracket was broken so it kept slipping down and turning towards the wall. The homeless man right at the front door was not the welcome we were expecting but he was harmless.
Room was modern, clean, bed was comfy, staff were welcoming and friendly and the location was near all the good bars and restaurants.

United KingdomThe only problem we did have was the bracket that holds the shower head was broken but we managed to sort it so we could still use the shower. We did advise the desk of the problem. Marseille isn't particularly cheap to eat out and beware of the prices of beer/lager, we got stung with a 10 euro pint of lager one night (as we didn't check the price first and I had two pints). But that is obviously nothing to do with the hotel.
The hotel's location was perfect for us as the places we wanted to visit were within a good distance. The hotel staff were very friendly/attentive and we had no issues with them. Breakfast was adequate for us and the room we had was good enough for the time we were there.

GermanyThe pictures on the homepage are way nicer than the actual thing but you get what you pay for. Check out could be more efficient. There seems to be quite some variability in how well the staff know the computer system. The payment system is indeed a little confusing.
Ideally located and friendly staff. Nice view from the window. Room practical and clean. Sound insulation OK-you can’t have it all. In the middle of a bustling city and totally silent won’t work.

United KingdomA bit pricy for what you get, breakfast is extra and not particularly good value. Photos give impression of a larger and grander hotel than what it in fact is: entrance, foyer and lift are all very small. Had to pay upfront for the entire stay (including the breakfasts).
The hotel is in an excellent location at the foot of the Canebiere near the Vieux Port and is opposite the tube station. Room pleasant with small balcony and nice view. Very clean, good air conditioning.

CanadaHousekeeping wasn't consistent. One time they didn't refill the cups. Also having paper cups instead of proper glasses and cups was meh. Not having a mini fridge was a bummer too.
Excellent location right by the Old Port, the metro, buses and ferry. My room had the view of the port, which was lovely. If you open the balcony it gets loud because of the street noise, which didn't bother me at all, I liked the action. Once the balcony was closed I didn't hear any noise. The AC worked well all except one night, but when it worked, it worked well. The room was comfortable while not very large. All the staff were super nice, so they get 5 stars. Overall, I'm quite pleased with my stay and would stay there again.
