Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

CanadaWe encountered some confusion in finding the Industrial lodgings. Here's what you have to do -- once you're in the courtyard, head to the wooden stairs at the back. At the top of the stairs is an unmarked for opening onto a hallway. At the end of the hallway you'll find Industrial and two other apartments, Charme and Pouchkine. But there is no signage on the outside door. I've asked the management to put posters of the rooms on that door, and they may be in place by the time you visit.
This a comfortable apartment with some cheeky design touches. It's very clean with an interesting layout (beds upstairs on a creaky landing) and with the basics you need for self-catering your stay. The location is superb; Rue St-Patrice is part of the main medieval thoroughfare in Rouen. You're ten or fifteen minutes' walk from the main historical sites, and across the large parking lot opposite the apartment, there's the Saint-Patrice bus station -- no. 120 goes out to Colleville-sur-Mer/Omaha Beach.

NetherlandsKitchen was very basic and was lacking a bit of maintenance and equipment. Be aware that the toilet/bathroom are upstairs. The sofa bed could be improved as well.
Apartment was centrally located to enjoy Bayeux and the landing beaches. The inside garden is great to have dinner or relax after a whole day travelling. On Saturdays there is a great market in front of the door.

United StatesThe steep narrow stairs were at bit of an issue at 70 yrs. Had a difficult time figuring out the washing machine. Even with google. We are very handy people, so for others, it could be close to impossible. I did choose this Apt due to washer and dryer.
Location and general concept is good. Center of town location was perfect. Distance from train station Ok. Bus route from train worked great during the day arrival. Not sure about a night arrival. Overall very pleasant stay. Loved the courtyard.

JapanNothing. Everything was great! Except, for the wifi didn't work the first couple of days, and the reception fixed it a night before. It was a bit challenging for me because I had a work engagement, but managed to complete it with my data. Apparently, the walls in Bayeux are thick and wifi signals are weak. Most stores are closed on Mondays, so plan ahead.
I didn't expect to have a whole apartment, which was a nice surprise 😁, and for the price it's great. The flat is cozy, has a security gate, quiet, and has a cute garden inside. The facility offers a washing machine and dryer, which is awesome. The bed was firm and great for the back. The kitchen was basic, but enough. The flat is located at the square and one can enjoy the Saturday street market. There are plenty of stores, boulangeries, cafés, and other restaurants in walking distance. Excellent location.

United KingdomAccess to the apartment was frustrating as we couldn’t get in initially and then couldn’t find which apartment we were staying in as the details were not on the email. We were tired after a long drive so this was not great. We purposely chose an apartment as we wanted to self-cater and watch the rugby that evening - the television didn’t work so that was also upsetting. As we had had several phone calls with the owner regarding access to the property, we gave up at this point. It was a shame as it was the last night of our holiday.
It was well situated and clean.

IrelandWe weren't told which apartment we were in or the code to collect the key which caused some confusion but it was quickly fixed after messaging the host. Extremely creaky upstairs floor. Shower was average.

United KingdomOur personal preference would be for a king size bed - or the bedding to use on the downstairs sofa bed. But we knew it was a double when we booked and this is not a criticism at all of the excellent property. It just might prevent us booking again.
Very clean and well stocked for a self-catering stay. Beautiful building, thoughtfully converted. Easy to get into with timely, clear instructions. Perfectly located in the centre of Bayeux. Gorgeous communal garden that allowed for conversations with neighbours. Very good value for money.

United KingdomWe were in an apartment on the 2nd floor and the staircase to the attic bedroom was quite dangerous. The bed was located under a low wooden beam which made access to it very tricky.

CanadaThe shower didn’t have a door and even when short showers were taken the bathroom leaked so much that it nearly ran out into the kitchen unless towels were used on the floor. The lighting was poor (lamps and overhead lights were dim) and the shared washer was very small and took a very long time. When we asked for more toilet paper the host was very responsive and provided more within a few hours, however, we asked for it to be left outside the door and they entered the apartment while we were not there to put it on the table.
The location couldn’t be better and it had a nice courtyard away from the busy street. Had a clothes dryer. There were power outlets by the bed. Clear instructions on how to access the building were provided and the little communication we had with the host (via chat on Booking.com) was very good.
